Fantastic service from all the staff.Sally was really helpful with informing us how to book the boat trips and recommendations.Ian went downstairs to get a hot chocolate and went out of his way.Along with another one of the girls in the venue helping with filtered water. They all went above and beyond. Thanks everyone.

I went to the Harbour café today. I hadn’t been for a year and previously my family had been there regularly.Normally on a Sunday the cafe is busy with families, cyclists and tourists visiting the Rutland Belle but today there were far fewer patrons than expected for a sunny Sunday afternoon. When I stepped inside I realised why. Instead of an array of tasty cakes and a menu of freshly prepared dishes I was greeted with a selection of beige items sitting in heated cabinets. No inside dining space now either. The whole vibe was very “canteen”. My friend, who was hungry had a sausage roll which after a couple of bites was left on the cardboard on which it was served. The tea and coffee we ordered was from a self service machine in paper cups and at best mediocre. How can you make it so bad? Where were the cakes? The ice creams? The proper cups and saucers. The non beige food and perhaps some salad? The staff were pleasant enough but thoroughly disengaged.Apparently Anglian Water had taken over the café. Perhaps they should stick to what they know which clearly isn’t catering. I’ve had better school meals. So very disappointing.

It appears that the cafe has been refurbished since our last visit. Unfortunately there was not much on offer apart from a couple of sandwiches and chocolate bars. The coffee and soft drinks are dispensed through self-service machines and the quality was poor. For the price we paid for two coffees and a sausage roll (ÂŁ8) it would have been nice to have some home made cake and a better tasting coffee. Maybe we arrived too late in the afternoon to have the best choice but it seemed a shame that it has changed so much since we were last there.

Disappointing! Compared to what it used to be this is a massive downgrade, food is seriously overpriced and not very nice, nothing is locally sourced, it's no longer a warm friendly place it feels more like a hospital canteen. There is only outdoor seating so no idea what happens on a rainy day.Extremely disappointed with it!

I paid ÂŁ2.90 for a mocha which didn't have chocolate in it and tasted awful. Extra star for the staff being friendly with the dog but that's about it.

Visited the Harbour cafe earlier today with my husband and two dogs.We were all made very welcome. I initially asked if they did takeaway as my husband was waiting outside with my dogs.“Please feel free to bring them in”“They are two large dogs, is that ok?”“Of course, the bigger the better”.My dogs were well behaved whilst we enjoyed the great food, generous portions and attentive service. We sat on the balcony which was lovely with the artificial grass, the dogs happily lay down to watch the view. Will certainly return.

Great location, but understaffed, the quality of the food is average although they have very delicious deserts. The lady serving the tables was relentless and try her best to get on top of all the jobs.

Great situation right on the water front. Food portions were surprisingly generous (almost had me in the first half, ngl). Ordered for a friend and I:Cripsy chicken ciabatta & friesHam egg & friesApple and elder flowerPeroniAll for circa ÂŁ24. Very nice overall but the interior leaves much to be desired. Could do more with this space.

Went to the cafe this morning. Very friendly service. They did allow our two Labradors to rest inside. Ordered coffee and bacon sandwich. The sandwich was made of freshly baked bread (crusty on the outside and fluffy on the inside). It was delicious.
