Fast friendly service huge portions of great food best in Swadlincote

Visited tonight for the first time. Delicious cod, chips, pie and curry. All really fresh and hot. Will definitely be back soon.

Great portions and best food in local area. I have tried many chippy and I still don't have a reason to go elsewhere. The sausage and kebabs are by far the best in swadlincote and the surrounding areas, the fish is good but is beat by fresh seaside chippys. Staff are amazing and helpful. My only quarm is that over the years that I have gone to this chippy, the prices have gone up a little. Before if I wanted a chippy I would just go but now I have to think twice if it's worth the money and if I have something in the fridge . NOT SAYING THE PRICES ARE OUTRAGEOUS! Just saying if you get a small order for one or a massive feast for 5+ it will be expensive , for a family around 4 it's not that bad as with portions you only need to buy one large chips and your set for everyone.

Is there an option for 0 star? This is incredibly rude woman who served me and my family. I ordered a lot of food and her face when I said ‘x’ about of sausages her face very judge mental. Would not like to see her face again in that chippy. She made so angry it’s unbearable .

Signs up saying masks to be worn and max 4 in shop.Customers ignoring the rules are not challenged, 6 customers in when I went and 1 not wearing a mask eating battered sausage at the counter was not challenged.Non of the staff wear masks when cooking and serving the food.Food was good but service was slow.

Portion sizes of chips varies massively depending on who serves you. Usually a small portion is fine for 3 of us, but last night it was about 1/3 smaller than it usually is. Quality is always great but needs to be more consistent on portion size so you know what you're going to get.

Nice fish and chips but as with most chip shops you end up scraping the fish out of the batter as the batter is too thick. Proper chip shop fish has a very thin layer of batter and you eat it all. The only chip shop where I've eaten the entire piece of fish including all the batter is Bedders in Birmingham. Take a lesson from them and you can't go wrong.

ordered on just eat. came to collect and they said the pie wasn't crispy bit was ready to eat. I said that's fine but still gave me a substitute and money back.Great service girls.
