From start to finish our visit was wonderful. The food was amazing and was Presented beautifully .We really enjoyed it. There are so many places to eat but for me this is my firm favourite. The staff are always lovely and very welcoming also in the current climate I think your prices are great as the food it out of this world for not a massive bill at the end. Thank you 😊 xxx

Lovely setting. Lovely people. Food awesome, only exceptions were mushy peas were dry for 1 guest & gravy like water for another, everything else was beautiful. Good prices too. If I could help the young waiting staff I would advise them to be more confident...but this comes with age & experience I suppose. Will definitely be revisiting & soon. Thank you team 😊

Stayed here with my family and my brother and his family last night after a hectic weekend at Alton Towers. Staff were fantastic. Nothing was too much trouble. And everyone was so kind to us. Dinner and breakfast were very tasty. And our room was very comfortable and great value. Thank you all. Would definitely recommend 👌

Took my partner for a date night meal. The service was excellent, nothing too much trouble for the staff. Food was excellent nicely presented and ample portions. My partner had hunters chicken, she said it was the best one she's ever tasted, I had the scampi, perfectly cooked and piping hot both meals. We finished off with a sticky toffee pudding with ice cream each. Again the pudding was piping hot and the ice cream was very tasty. I'm an ex Marstons landlord and my expectations are very high when I go out for a meal, and I'm happy to say my expectations were exceeded here. The Manager, Tracey was very welcoming and extremely helpful, we had to move tables as my partner has a broken back and she was having difficulty reaching the table with her back brace on, when we asked if it would be possible to move to a different table, we were shown several other tables and even though they were busy it was not an issue for them to move us. I will definitely be booking again and soon. Thank you all for making our date night so special.

I wish I could write two reviews. The pub is absolutely lovely. 5*Great food, friendly service, good range of drinks.Pretty location by the river.I love a Marston's but the rooms are terrible.I stayed in the rooms for four nights in May.I liked the pub and it was in a great location for my week so chose not to move!Unfortunately I'm only giving them 2*Lots of black mould in the corners of the shower, thread bare carpets, peeling paintwork in the bathroom. It's a beautiful old building but the single glazed sash windows don't hide any road noise from road outside after about 5am - I bought ear plugs and they helped!Cleaning hit and miss - apparently due to Covid its been reduced - say it out loud and Marston's you'll understand that doesn't make sense. If you're only going to clean it every other day make sure you clean it properly so people don't have to look at a full bin or ask for things in the pub to have a cup of tea!

I visited with my husband for a Friday lunch. The pub has a good amount of parking and is situated in a lovely countryside location with a beer garden right next to the river Trent. We enjoyed a Marston’s Pedigree in the sunshine by the river then went inside for lunch, although I think had we wished, we could have eaten outside as well. We were served by Ann who was truly excellent, very friendly, helpful and efficient. I had the posh fish finger sandwich which was delicious - a crispy battered goujon of fish that was piping hot and still juicy and soft inside, a zingy tartar sauce and crunchy lettuce all packed inside white bloomer bread toasted to give a crunch on the outside. It came with chunky chips on the side that were crispy on the outside and fluffy in the middle as a good chip should be. My husband had the three course lunch deal, excellent value at £15 for three great courses which he also really enjoyed. A thoroughly great experience - nice staff, pretty location and great food. We will definitely be coming back with friends and family.

We met up with friends and had an all round good experience. We ordered food and all meals were very tasty bar 1 ( there was 8 of us). We ordered the wrong meal and they offered to change it but they got that wrong. After we queried this they offered to cancel the meal and took it of the bill. To be honest that was nothing compared to the pleasant staff and the surroundings, and all other meals were soon enjoyed. We'll done.

We had a really nice experience here, the staff were friendly staff and it was a chilled, easy going atmosphere. I ordered the bacon double cheeseburger with chips as well as a side of halloumi fries. It was really tasty and we'll definitely pop back sometime! Recommend.

Really enjoyed my stay here, the room was a little outdated but certainly not in a poor condition. The room was well presented with pointed toilet rolls and towels, nice facilities and the general cleanliness was pretty good, the sheets were fresh and the bed was very well made.My only criticism with the room was the bin hadn’t been emptied… but it certainly wasn’t an issue and it didn’t dampen our stay. The staff were very polite, friendly, and the waitress even laughed at my terrible dad joke. The staff were knowledgable about the products and services they sold and they were extremely well presented. The food was really nice, it’s a decent menu and other than the calamari I’d have been happy eating any of those dishes. Great selection, very tastey and well presented. The general atmosphere is very relaxing, very warming and very welcoming set in beautiful surroundings alongside the river. Even though our room was right next to the window, the noise from the main road really wasn’t a problem.Thank you all for your hard work and hospitality. I’d certainly recommend!

We looked at the menu and booked a table online. We received confirmation at the time of booking and a reminder on the day of the meal. We arrived and were welcomed straight away and shown to the table where we were provided with menus. There are a lot of great choices on the menu. I'm vegetarian, and I was a little disappointed that my main meal choice wasn't available, but they did offer an alternative. The starters were served hot, and they were tasty. My companion said the orange juice and lemonade he ordered didn't taste right. Our starter plates were cleared quickly, then the mains brought. My meal was filling, and tasted good, but not amazing. We weren't asked if everything was ok for the main course, but then again we weren't pestered either. We both chose the hot drink and dessert for £3, but there were only 2 decaff options - hot chocolate or Moroccan mint tea. The mint tea was lovely though, and the small cheesecake was lovely. We weren't aware of any discount but they kindly notified us of it and gave us the discount anyway. In general the meals were nice, the staff were good and the atmosphere was relaxed. But I wouldn't necessarily rush back for another meal.
