The John Thompson Inn & Brewery in South Derbyshire

First visit and will definitely visit again to enjoy the friendly service. Accomodation was clean and fully serviced with a complimentary bread milk on arrival. Self service accommodation however the Inn had a varied menu of tasty food at affordable prices in a pleasant atmosphere.

Great food - great value for money for miles around! Pleasant and caring owners/staff. Homely atmosphere amidst very comfortable surroundings!

We called by to stop for a drink in the sunshine. It’s been years since we visited and it was always so well kept. We had great expectation of old, but we’re sadly very disappointed.The patio was just awful, tables covered in dirty glasses and plates, and no effort to clear them as people left. At the bar there beer prices are more than central London at nearby £6 for a lager.I don’t mind laying top money, but at least keep the place tidy. And when you clear a table, why leave the sauces, and dirty knives and forks behind. If you can’t keep it clean I wonder about the overall hygiene. Disappointed

Excellent food all home cooked by the owner friendly staff very busy most of the time would book to be sure it's my first time but will definitely be back.

Excellent country Inn in a great location. Plenty of good drinks choices including some well kept real ales. Has a good reputation for the food served too.

Excellent food. Even filled out lad. Such a warm welcome, they make you feel like family. Dogs happy as well.

Really fantastic service with really friendly staff. We had a carvery and the food had been left for a while to make the food at the top dry and dehydrated by the heat lights and the stuffing was burnt. The meal was pleasant enough but I would not return.

Good selection of beers and ciders. Carvery is fantastic and good value for money, booking recommend for Sunday lunch. Staff are always polite and knowledgeable.

Sunday Dinner.... Went in for a drink only at the time and the food looked and smelt lovely. They managed to squeeze 4 of us and a baby in and so glad they did. Carvery was gorgeous... Will be back again 100 percent.

Fantastic experience from start to finish, we stayed a couple of nights in a lodge, very clean and tidy with amazing attention to details. Beer and food in the pub were excellent and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. Great place to relax with lots to do nearby.
