The Stables cafe in South Derbyshire

We came here for the tapas night, the food was so nice and so much varity. Portions where also generous.These guys are so nice and down to earth, all the staff worked constantly with big smiles and we was there a good few hours. Live singer was charming and clearly at ease in his profession. The basil Bramble Cocktail was amazing 👌🏻. Great night Guys! Please do more 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Such a lovely place to visit, especially on a warm, sunny day. Just a shame the staff aren't all so warm and sunny! One woman was clearly not having a good day as I overheard her being very unwelcoming to several customers as well as quite curt with a member of staff, a lovely young man who I think is new but was clearly trying to do his best with his polite and friendly manner. She unfortunately put a big downer on the whole visit for me! Such a shame.

Visited today had some lunch, coffee, cake and a cheeky prosecco with a friend. Wow the food was gorgeous, amazing GF selection which made me so happy. The GF cake was to die for. Coffee was beautiful and made perfectly, being able to sit outside in the courtyard topped it off. Amazing location for a mooch around, shopping and able to support local businesses. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, added a personal touch to their interactions. Found my new go to place... Will be recommending to everyone. Just perfect

Probably the best vintage afternoon tea yet service was excellent nothing wasn't to much trouble very friendly staff great atmosphere would definitely recommend. Was treated to afternoon tea by my son ❤️ looking forward to going back soon

Tried this place with new owners to see whether it had improved … it’s On a Tuesday at about 1:30pm told by a miserable unsmiling woman at the till , that I’d have to wait forty minutes for a salad !!!I said in all my years ( about25 ) of coming to that tearoom I’d never been told I’d have to wait forty minutes for anything - no matter how busy they were ( and the place today definitely wasn’t that busy !)I crossed the yard to the delicatessen were I was served instantly with a smile!See below my post from two years ago … this place has only gone downhill with its customer service and manner .Left two years ago :- I have Been visiting this place ( the Staunton stables tearoom in the courtyard) a lot over the years , spending a lot of money on meals and tea , most of the time it’s really nice - however today a rather miserable staff member told me I wasn’t welcome inside with my dog anymore ( this is after a good six months of being allowed in with my dog who is well behaved and clean and small!) no reason was given, and the miserable woman seemed to take great joy in my shock and discomfort at her words.I had to sit outside in the cold, wind and rain as my salad was blown off my plate !Is this place dog friendly or not ???(is it actually even human friendly? )They say they are dog friendly one minute- then they say they’re not!Personally I’ll be taking my business to a place that allows my small , clean well behaved dog , somewhere my companion is as welcome as I am :(Feeling Very upset and dissapointed today .

The place holds such promise and I really want to give a better review, but I just can’t.Let’s start with the good, the menu is a decent size for a tea room with plenty of options and food served was tasty, cakes have always been a staple, toasties are of a good sizing with a side salad to fill you. Prompt service was a bonus.Now for the bad, the mess, not a single table outside was cleared, leaving rubbish being blown everywhere, spills, crumbs, leftovers all over the place, and with the bins overflowing with dog waste, the place left a lot to be desired. Especially in the current climate where cleanliness is very important, it leaves a bad taste in the mouth.If you managed to stomach the mess of outside, you did get a warm, clean place to eat, but as dogs are a no go, this is not a pleasant venue for the hound hikers landing midway through a walk. Suffice to say, across the court was clean and busy and will be the first stop on the next round trip.Food was good, service not so much.

We visit Staunton Harold regularly to feed the ducks and swans. The stables is now under new ownership, the inside has been redecorated to a more modern feel. It is a lovely little cafe, staff are friendly, they are more than happy to bring drinks and food to your table. Which is fantastic when you have a toddler. Good selection of cakes and treats, with several gulten free options. We had the raspberry and pistachio gulten free cake this time. They also offer afternoon teas and hot food. Though not on the menu, they do half portions of sandwiches for children. I have previously had the eggs Benedict which was delicious.

A nice place to go for a light meal or a snack either when you are visiting the shops and garden centre or if you've been for a walk, there is a car park close by which is an ideal starting point for any of the numerous walks around there and the Stables tearoom is a good place to arrive back at after you've worked up an appetite. A good menu and I can recommend trying the winter toasties and a piece of cake.

A homely , basic tea rooms with wonderful home made cakes and food, all made on the premises to a very high standard. The service is very quick and efficient and Donne with a friendly grace.Don't come if you care looking for fine dining, it is excellent family favourite food for all ages.

Great tea rooms in a lovely location alongside great art and craft gallery and workshops also nearby nurseries. Nice food, good size pot of tea, great bacon butties. Short walk to NT Dimminsdale woods with a lovely display of snowdrops in spring.
