Had Sunday lunch yesterday. Firstly the staff were so helpful with our booking; as I am disabled they went out of their way to accommodate us at an accessible table. Always good to be introduced to a new gin, a delicious apple flavour 😀The food was outstanding, although I’m not a vegetarian I chose the option of the stuffed aubergine as it was different, it was delicious, my husband had the roast lamb which was tender & lean. The range of vegetables was fab, leeks in very tasty sauce, carrots, broccoli, cauliflower cheese, red cabbage, roast and mashed potatoes!! For dessert I had the Eton mess which was gorgeous, hubby had the pineapple upside down sponge which he thoroughly enjoyed. A brilliant experience and we will be returning, definitely want to try Afternoon tea. Thank you so much to all the staff.

I was treated to afternoon tea on Friday and it was really good, it is all set out before you are seated and it tasted as good as as it looked, Julie and Charlotte look after you, there is also two boxes to take home what you don't manage to eat, can't wait to go again.

Traditional style pub offering brilliant food.. 🍽 I opted for the fish pie which was served with creamy mash on top and green beans on the side. The pie was choc full of large chunks of white fish salmon and King size prawns absolutely delicious.. 😋 I followed up with the very refreshing lemon and ginger sylabub.. yum.! excellent service too.!! 👍😁

My first time although I’m living in Donington for 2 years, went with a friend for the Sunday roast and it was lovely the food is amazing, Charlotte our waitress simply brilliant.Only one point for the management to consider, they only accept dogs on the outside area it would be good to have a small area where we can enjoy a nice meal but also enjoy the company of our furry friends.

Cosy and welcoming pub. Great food, warm fire on cold days and great atmosphere.

Well kept ales. Bateman was very good. Meal was good and plenty of it. Really nice atmosphere, friendly staff. A most enjoyable lunch.

Poor customer service. Perhaps in future Special event Facebook booking adverts should show the prices and state that the booking deposits are non refundable!In response to your reply…The one star review was for my most recent experience. Previous visits had been good and that is why I chose to book for Mothering Sunday.I booked before the priced menu was posted - my mistake 🤦‍♀️ (Lesson learned)Next day the priced menu was posted on Facebook60% more than regular Sunday Lunch is quite a price hike even for a ‘SPECIAL’ menu2 days after booking I rang to enquire whether I could get a refund if I cancelled. I didn’t think this was unreasonable as I booked 9 weeks in advance. You told me I could cancel but would NOT get a refund. I didn’t cancel!YOU called me back to say you had changed your mind and would refund me. After processing refund you told me to never visit your pub again - no proviso there

A lovely evening meal was made extra special by the two waitresses (sorry, l didn't get your names,) who sang "Happy birthday" to my husband on his 70th birthday and presented him with a special dessert! Many thanks to all staff, the meal was delicious.

Had an absolutely amazing afternoon tea. Everything was spot on and I couldn't fault a thing. Would definitely recommend. Staff were all fantastic and couldn't do enough for us. The pub was amazingly decorated. We will definitely be visiting again. Good value for money as well.
