The lovely lady who greeted us today at this establishment was absolutely top class, cheerful, professional and friendly. We arrived early for our afternoon tea and were so well looked after. Nothing is too much trouble here. The food and drink here is quality. I can't wait to visit again soon!! Definitely reccomend.

Just the nicest setting to while away the afternoon. Beautiful setting with a lovely open fire, friendly and helpful staff. A great choice of drinks on the menu. We felt very spoilt, definitely recommend.

What a wonderful treat it was to visit today for afternoon tea. The staff are so friendly and efficient. The venue is stunning, relaxed and has a wonderfully welcoming feeling. Cannot recommend this enough. Thank you for a lovely visit, we will be back soon!

Afternoon cream tea for two, Mmmm.Excellent location, beautiful setting both inside and out. Made to feel very welcome and fantastic friendly service. We chose the cream tea for two, which is £29pp and may sound expensive. But, every single item was fresh, very tasty and very filling. Plus (as we don't drink tea) the perculated coffee refills were not only needed but a nice addition for no extra cost. Many, many afternoon teas are cheaper but when your paying 3 or 4 pound for one cup of coffee and may want 3 during the food it can become very expensive. This was lovely, no complaints whatsoever and a nice treat once in a while, highly recommended.

What a nice way to have breakfast. Having driven through Stamford a number of times, I have always wanted to visit The George Hotel. Beautiful Rutland building on the high street. Arranged to meet a colleague for a meeting and enjoyed their breakfast. £29 each and order what you want, toast, main meal, teas and coffee. Setting both outside and in was beautiful and service impeccable. Not something I can afford to do every day but as a special treat it is highly recommended.

Only reviewing the restaurant as we didn't use the hotel facilities.Setting and ambiance is very good and the place is well-maintained and nicely-presented. The staff are prompt, polite and courteous.Reason for the 3 stars is the average quality and poor value of the Afternoon Tea which was not nearly as good as the setting would imply. Standard shop-bought sliced bread (crusts removed), mediocre and measly fillings, average cakes, small scones and flavourless tea and coffee do not add up to a £30 per head experience. I've had a lot better elsewhere. They need to up their game and give this menu choice a lot more character and pizzazz fitting of the hotel's standing and reputation.

We stayed at The George on Sunday 30th January as our Christmas present to each other we expected it to be a wonderful experience but that’s not what we received, we struggled to get a drink with one bar shut and a very rude bartender so went in the other bar to be told there wasn’t a table for us to sit at. Eventually a waitress told us to sit in the lounge and would bring drinks which took 30 minutes. We ate in the Oak room and whilst the food although very over priced was good the service really let it down it wasn’t busy but we were rushed through our meal’s and waiting not upto to standard. Also on checking the bill we’ve been over charged on four items coming to an extra £30 will definitely not be returning and won’t recommend to anyone. On speaking to other people we are not the only one’s to have had the same problem very disappointed.

Amazing experience, as always. Dining in the Oak Room always seems to leave us relaxed and reluctant to return to the real world outside. Meals excellent, Grainstore Triple B and Adnams Broadside extremely well kept. Always book, it's a must!

Always a pleasure to stay here. Only comment is that they seem to love to un the rooms very hot. first think I did was turn the radiator down from 5 to 2/3 and crack open a window. Breakfast and dinner were fantastic. You pay to stay in a historic building like this but the service, quality and cleanliness are beyond doubt.

Beautiful place and took walk-ins which is great but the service doesn't warrant the pricing. Sat for 15 minutes and nobody came to take our order so we walked out unfortunately. If we'd had more time we would have persisted, but don't think it's the sort of place where you would go for a quick bite.
