I am the dog owner in question a couple of reviews below. I had been told by family members that dogs were welcome, so brought my dog along from the holiday home as we didn’t want to leave her in a place that was strange to her. Upon arrival, I was told by the owner that dogs weren’t allowed in the ‘restaurant’ (pub) and the tone was as if that was blindingly obvious. I’ve taken my dog to many places where they are allowed in areas where people eat, so I didn’t think it was that obvious. However I said I understood and left without argument. The owner did make an effort to come outside to speak to me and I’m sure it was just a misunderstanding, however the restaurant need to change their website to either remove the ‘dog friendly’ tag or otherwise make it clear that dogs are only welcome in certain areas. I’m sure this is a decent place for locals but from the feedback I got from my family, they didn’t have enough cutlery, and they took orders for food which they subsequently realised they didn’t have. We were a large party so it’s most likely that this place is best serving small numbers rather than big group bookings. No hard feelings.

Very friendly and welcoming pub, I have visited with my 4 dogs and there was no issue what so ever, as with any pub or restaurant we could not sit in the restaurant (obvious really) so we sat in a very nice snug bar with an open fire burning which all dogs loved and fell asleep in front of! A very nice dog friendly pub which I shall visit again with the dogs!

Not a good experience. Absolutely not a dog friendly pub. Ignore the website that clearly states that it is. Travelled 40 minutes from Tattershall Lakes with our dog to be turned away, one of us having to sit in the car with the dog as we “did not state upon booking a dog would be with us”. Why would you state you’re bringing a dog, as though they’ll be taking a seat and ordering from the menu.I can only imagine he was the owner/ manager was not apologetic, infact rather rude and abrupt. Then we get to the food, mediocre at best. Microwaved. Run out of several things on the menu. Run out of cutlery?! A true Fawlty Towers experience if you ask me. Will not return, will not recommend.

I always enjoy what I have. It's a bit dated here but its a village pub.

Popped in on the off chance of a light lunch on way back from Bourne. What a little gem we stumbled across. Sevice so friendly in a country pub setting and the food was fabulous. Just moved in to the are, so the Fortescua Arms has gone on our map of local eateries. Many thanks for a great experience.

Big group of wet cold cyclists turned up at lunch without booking, staff accommodated us without issue and served various delicious meals & coffees in good time. The pie of the day (steak & ale) was excellent, as were the chunky chips. Thanks Bridie for the excellent service!
