Loved it!!! Lovely rooms, good food and the beer was exactly as it should be, cool and clear as can be. Plus we were served by a particularly helpful and pleasant young lady. Already booked a return trip!

We went for my birthday as it was a gastro pub,Sadly most people were eating fish and chips and burger and chips, which should have been a warning to me.Are pigeon was lacking in seasoning and quite raw in center. The belly pork was okay but small and we left Β£72 poorer and hungry, we were very disappointed with the food, but staff were pleasant and helpful.

Disappointing visit to what was once a great gastro pub. Lunch time visit, menu was the regular full menu. No chicken dishes on menu at all. No lighter meals for lunch time no salads etc. Husband enjoyed his pie and chips but unfortunately my rosti that accompanied the belly pork was burnt black and inedible. This was resolved by a discount to our bill but not great service as no feedback possible till we`d finished eating. My portion was small and I left feeling both hungry and disappointed. Sorry Chequers but you must do better!

Unfortunetly not a good experience .layout of tables v poor .unable to access the bar at all v cramped . Food cold and reproduced being warmed in a microwave and then hard. No discount for this as then we ate after our guests over priced for a v small spoonful of sorbet . All v unorganised and serving plates which looked like plant saucers not impressed . Such a shame as this used to be fantastic

Fabulous lunch today in front of a roaring fire. The slow roast pork belly is to die for. The wife insisted on the chicken, ham and leek pie which was superb. Pineapple tart tatin with a subtle chilli heat is highly recommended. π

Lovely place, the staff were friendly and attentive, beer was good and the food excellent (especially the sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, make sure you leave room for it because it's huge ! π)

We stayed in the Juniper chalet/cottage plus dinner and breakfast the following morning. Really comfortable and cozy, with great food and service. Good value too! Thoroughly recommend!

Great atmosphere with wonderful staff and lovely food. The only criticism would be that it is quite isolated however I suspect that this is also part of the appeal. Would not hesitate to recommend.

Where do I start? There are so many positives to choosing The Chequers for your special day.The ambience; a beautiful cosy country pub/house with a soothing intimate feel and lots of interesting nooks to explore. The event room is spacious with warm oak wooden floors, large glass paned bi-folding doors outlooking to beautiful gardens, a 360 vision of loveliness. Log fires for those colder evenings or garden seating for summer. The venue room; our wedding was in November and we chose a candle lit, intimate feeling with autumnal colours complemented by their warm oak wood flooring and soft lighting. The fires burned beautifully adding to the charm. The booze; a large selection of delicious wines, whiskey for the connoisseurs and an array of gins; not forgetting a few classy cocktails for that little extra sass! The food; insanely tasty! I am actually planning to rebook just for the food and I am probably not the first bride who kept booking for food (just to go over things one more time ha!). We sat 62 guests and every single meal was hot, tasty and served in a timely fashion. I must admit I was nervous that a pub would manage a large party when it came to serving hot delicious meals but they were fantastic! Beautiful food and professionally executed! One of our guests is a talented chef who commented how lovely it was to enjoy such high standard food and be on the other side of the kitchens. The rooms; guests and the happy couple (us) enjoyed every room. Cleaned to a high standard, beautifully and tastefully decorated. It was a real treat away from home to stay here and boy did I love that deep bath tub!!The team; all incredibly supportive, friendly and professional. I could not have asked for anything more, they were with me every step of the way! Last but by far not least, Jo (The owner/manager). Jo is incredible, she took everything in her stride, catering for every whim, last minute tweaks and knowing from experience exactly what I needed when even I didn't know. She appeared at exactly the right moments with a steady hand. When the nerves kicked in, she was there with a reassuring smile (reminded me to BREATHE) and off I went down the aisle! Our day was perfect and I am 100% happy that I chose The Chequers Team to make it so.

Puddings are nice but for the sweetness of the sticky toffee pudding, there was not much ice cream at all. Pricey though. My husband's and his cousin's food looked really nice. Unfortunately mine only came with fries. For some strange reason only the manager takes the orders and no one replied when I tried to thank them for the food and say bye. Very pretty place.
