The Crown Hotel in South Kesteven

Very good meal, cooked nicely and a good serving. Service was excellent and I especially liked the fact that the staff were very friendly and in no rush to get you out. Would certainly go again.

Turned up on spec and was greeted by a rather snooty “have you booked”. Explained we only wanted a drink and was offered a booth that was free until the reserved time (but not told what time), which was great. Then after ordering a second pint via the table service and literally getting a couple of sips out of it we were told we needed to leave as the table was booked. Begs the question why serve another two extortionately priced pints of there wasn’t time to finish them.

Perfect stay. Nice room, excellent afternoon tea by the fire. Great quality breakfast. Everyone was lovely

Lovely staff,very modern room with lovely shower. Great pillows! The breakfast was sublime,each component cooked to perfection! Will definitely return.

Disappointing Sunday lunch. Drinks took a long time to come to table, salt cod starter small and didn't taste of much. Ordered cheese and onion pie for one main course and got a chicken pie (as did the vegetarian customer on the table next to us...). My seabass main course was barely average and I'd have cooked it better at home - salad had loads of chunks of tomato to bulk it out and the gnocchi was tasteless and unseasoned. The man who brought our starters put them on the table (the wrong way round) and walked off having not said a word - looking like he really didn't want to be working. The manager came over and said she'd apply a discount to our bill. When the bill came she'd taken off a derisory £5.66 from a bill over £70. We won't return or recommend.

Had a wonderful lunch in the marquee. Turned up without booking but got seated straightaway in the marquee outdoors.Contrary to my fears, it was very warm and well decorated. Lots of heaters and seating space.Enjoyed quite possibly the best pie of my life - the chicken and ham pie with mash, broccoli, cabbage, carrots and jug of gravy was sensational!Whole heartedly recommend. Staff very attentive, came and checked on us regularly and very well mannered.Well done to the chef, manager and team!

Had an overnight stay. Great pub food and a top quality breakfast. Lovely staff. Will definitely stay again. Fingers crossed that you manage to have a really good Christmas season and no more lockdowns after all your sterling effort.

The Christmas food very very tasty, looks fabulous. Atmosphere amazing! The room very spacious, well furnished and very clean. Breakfast also very good. I really enjoyed my stay!

If there was a half star, I would add one. The staff are really lovely. The hotel has great character and a super situation at the heart of old Stamford. Evening food is good, and breakfasts are excellent. What knocks the star off is the tiny car park (although there is plenty nearby), and the fact that we got a basement room - and it was in an annexe across the way. Nothing wrong at all with the room, but it would have helped if I was a foot shorter when trying to get down there though. Getting our cases back up after a 2 night stay was also a challenge. It made the total poor value for money. Room was worth half the price.

Fantastic find.Stayed here with business. The hotel is great, the staff friendly and efficient.The rooms are very comfortable with great digital showers.The breakfast was fantastic. Great quality food cooked very well.Thoroughly recommend.
