Really friendly welcome and excellent service. Interesting menu and all of our 4 different choices of main course were beautifully cooked and presented. This was our first visit but we will definitely be back!

Went for a family meal on a busy Friday night and had a lovely time. A very well appointed country inn, with rooms and extremely welcoming staff (especially the owner Jamie). Service was good, if a little busy owing to it being a Friday. The food was excellent, very fresh and clearly made with local produce. Interestingly, it was also very reasonably priced with a good portion size. Overall, a great experience and an establishment i'll certainly be visiting again.

Cannot praise The Griffin or their staff highly enough. The building, the setting, the gardens are all beautiful and every member of staff we met was so helpful (I can’t remember his name, I think Matthew, but the young man behind the bar in the evening and running breakfast service was so helpful) The room we stayed in was immaculate and comfortable. Slightly noisy, but it’s a busy pub, you expect that. The food is excellent, we’ve had lunch here a few times and dinner during our stay and it’s always been delicious with very generous portions. Breakfast was something else, great start to the day.Jamie and Leila are the perfect hosts and cannot do enough to make you feel welcome and valued. We were there for a special occasion and Jamie sent over a free bottle of Prosecco to help us celebrate which was such a pleasant touch. Really looking forward to our next stay here!

·

Country pub with good food, pleasant staff, small adventure area for children and plenty of run around grass area. Works well with a local walk beforehand using a laminated map provided by the Griffin, and pre-ordering the food.

I have just finished watching four in a bed and can't believe how cruel this B& B treated her follow B&B. I hope people boycott your bed breakfast. Shameful and Cruel.

We had a Sunday lunch which was ok but nothing special. I have had better and for considerably less than this meal. The service and ambiance were both ok but not particularly notable. In summary, ok but overpriced you could do better elsewhere. We will not be returning.

Fantastic atmosphere in here. A great range range of beers. Friendly attentive staff. Would recommend.

Avoid for Sunday Lunch!Whilst we previously had an excellent mid-week lunch here, our Sunday Lunches were poor. Roast beef was served very rare – not to our liking and had to be replaced. We should have been asked our preferences at the time of order, thus avoiding this setback. Further, we were offered no accompaniments, horseradish sauce and mustard for the beef or apple sauce for the pork, all contributing to somewhat poor service. Unfortunately, some of the vegetables were undercooked, such that the broccoli stems could not be cut. On reflection, perhaps we should have just sent it all back, but it was meant to be a celebration lunch. BEWARE, there is a 12.5% service charge added to the bill for 6 or more covers, which I don’t recall seeing mentioned anywhere. I have no objection to this, but it wasn't pointed out and I stupidly left a similar sized gratuity despite the above and only noticed the service charge, when we had left. “Heroes to Zero” – poor all round and best avoided for Sunday lunch.

My family of six went for dinner at The Griffin Inn last Wednesday: it was enjoyable but not quite there. They have undergone an extensive refurbishment but the lighting was way way too bright for an evening meal. The service was friendly but slow despite there not being many covers that evening. Our cheese soufflé starters tasted delicious but had collapsed into an unidentifable mass next to the wilted rocket leaves. The arancini was very good. Spaghetti mains: excellent tasting pasta, generous portion, great grassy olive oil, but served luke warm, way under-salted and with a tiny dollop of creme fraiche that didn't stretch very far across the dish. Why weren't the pine nuts toasted? Chicken breast and pork belly both good. Iron out the essential details and this place could be excellent as it has a lot going for it.

A fabulous lunch to celebrate my fiftieth today. A beautiful setting and although we were fortunate to have sunny weather today it wouldn't have mattered a bit since there's the option of a lovely marquee with well spaced tables. Can't recommend it enough, attentive staff, lovely food in a superb setting. Thank you for making us feel so welcome.
