Great place, welcoming to us and to our dog, bringing a bowl of water without being prompted .. fab food

Nice, big pub with good atmosphere. Lots of different beers on tap with a selection of local ales, IPAs, NEPAs and stouts. Also a decent range of cocktails.

Lovely pub, serves excellent beer, good menu, but only starters, main courses and dessert no lite bites.

The York is a busy but orderly establishment. I enjoy the surroundings of the genuinely old building, decorated in keeping with its years. A good place to find space to think, over a whisky or G&T.

Very disappointing dinner. The food was nice but the service done by Rebecca L. was terrible. We have been before and always have received great service, nice drinks and good food but tonight did not go as usual. We arrived and Rebecca was busy chatting with a friend and did not attend us straight away despite seeing us. Then, we asked for a table and Rebecca started to chat with a colleague whilst we were waiting for a table. Afterwards, whilst we were eating we saw Rebecca with crossed arms waiting in a corner for quite a while (20 minutes approximately) and thought this is odd for a waitress (having worked as a waitress before and seeing the number of tables she had). Finally, we finished eating and waited for someone to clean our table, so we could ask for the bill as we wanted to leave. After a long time I ended up looking for Rebecca as we had not seen her in the restaurant since we saw her waiting. She was hiding from her customer in a little corner. I asked her to give us the bill which she did. We then waited to be able to pay by card as Rebecca did not offer. She started serving a big table and when we asked for the card machine a bit frustrated by the service we have received tonight, she replied "well you are going to have to wait 2 minutes now!" on an aggressive tone. We waited 2 minutes and she did not come, we ended up paying at the bar and leaving the place angry.

Some very tasty food (particularly the Sunday roasts). Great selection of beer (many from local breweries) wine and cocktails. Quirky decor all over as well. Great little beer courtyard out the back which is great in the summer.

Proper pub, friendly staff. Nice cosy outside area.

I order take away food from here a lot and it is usually fantastic. However whenever I order a Sunday roast the portion sizes are always shocking for the prices you pay for them. I understand every kitchen has it’s bad days/services however this is the second time I’ve ordered a roast and it’s the second time I’ve been very disappointed with the sizes of he portions, absolute daylight robbery. I’d strongly advise that if you want a Sunday roast, go somewhere else!

Both my orders via uber eats have had issues with the food, service and things not being quite right I have contacted them several times by phone and email and they have not replied to my emails and speaking to manager Lauren apparently the food is supposed to be like this and they have lots of vegan customers ordering from them?I find this hard to believe based ob my experiences and that of those who have messaged meOrder 1The food took a long time to come and was cold and missing cutlery, the portions of roast dinner & vegan burger and chips were big but he seitan chicken wings were dry strips of seitan? and burnt chips/roast potatoesthey taste bitter and I couldn’t eat them the vegan burger stank of dairy and wasn’t sure if the cheeze was vegan or dairy in all honesty and things on the app are labelled vegan when not major red flagIt’s a shame the food was bad as the packaging used sustainable not plasticOrder 2I was given a voucher as i left my honest feedback on ubereats appSo I gave them a 2nd chance ordering a roast dinner, vegan burger & fries (no cheeze requested) and handcut chipsSo the burger and fries and handcut chips arrived but no sign of the roast dinner or gravy...I called the driver nothing there so called the restaurant no answerI tried again and got thru asked where my meal was and told it hadn’t gone thru on their system yet I could see it on my receipt and had been charged for it.....🤨They didn’t offer to send the meal out just a refund of the meal which was done on the phone and told he would send some vouchers for some cocktails by email which didn’t come thru nor the recipt for the refund and I contacted asking for it by email and phone.The chips were disgusting burnt and smelt of old oil and really greasy wouldn’t recommend or go hereMy worst takeaway experience ever....They clearly don’t care about their food, or customers or customer service and there are so many places to get good vegan food from in sheffield so try one of them instead please
