The Wharf Inn in South Northamptonshire

Visited The Wharf on a Monday afternoon whilst cruising along the canal. Good food, good value and friendly staff. A real delight after doing the locks earlier in the day.

Dog friendly and very nice people. Good garden onto the canal, so great for boaters. We didn't have time to sample the food.

Very friendly, enthusiastic team. Seemed like a new menu since our last visit. We had halloumi sandwich, vegan burger, pasta with chorizo, and Caesar salad. All very tasty, with perfect fries.Odd missing ingredients, like anchovies, and some mocktail syrups - apparently supply problems.

3 years ago my review was 5 stars, sadly I have had to update it based on how poor the service and the food is now with the limited, overpriced menu since pandemic.Pictured are 2 of the 'nibbles' :1- honey & mustard sausages, we were served 4 pieces which were HALF the size of a cocktail sausage!2 - halloumi bites, not even 5 tiny cubes each, didn't even half fill the pot it was served in.The burgers were fine (although there was no mention of cheese on the menu, both burgers arrived with cheese, luckily was not an issue)Chips were cold, but that's probably because we watched the waitress walk around to every single table outside multiple times because she didn't have a clue what the table numbers were and must have thought wondering around was the best approach.Service was slow, even though we're told there was no wait, it was still 1 hour.One of the drinks ordered was Orange Juice and Lemonade, but we were served orange cordial and lemonade instead both times, second time I watched as they reached directly over the orange juice to the bottle of cordial.

Thank you SO much for your delicious food at lunch time today - excellent service from everyone and a huge special thank you to the chef who went out of his way to cater for my coeliac son! I forgot to take photos but he loved his lunch so much and it DOES make a difference that he could have a great chicken burger and chips instead of something he didn’t really fancy - especially as his friends were having burgers!Thank you again, you have no idea how much difference it makes when it’s your child’s health and happiness and feeling they “fit in”

Had a booking for 12:45. Round of 4 drinks cost £21. I live just on the outskirts of London and a round is not that much.Order wasn’t taken for 30 minutes after we arrived. Food arrived 45 mins later. We ordered 3 farm roasts (consisting of pork, lamb, chicken and beef). Only beef and pork were present on the plate and some mince type substance. 4th meal which was prawn linguine, was tasteless and over cooked. No offer of any sauces for the roasts.Left with empty plates on for over half an hour.At 2:45, still not being asked about desserts, We ended up going to the bar and saying we will only pay for our meals as it was a set meal and we had some where else to go. They then had the nerve to charge £20 a head for three incomplete roast dinners and a tasteless pasta dish. I didn’t even pay £20 for a pasta dish at a Gordon Ramsay restaurant.Absolutely terrible food and serious lack of service. Mother’s Day ruined.Tables around us were also left unserved or told certain things were not on the menu. If you can’t cater for the covers you have then don’t do a set menu on a special occasion.

Have just taken my mum and dad for Sunday lunch for mother's Day. Not impressed at all. Plates were cold and food was luke warm. They took all the food back to warm it up, well that was a joke as the plates were still cold and food no hotter when it came back. Roast potatoes were hard and I had a side order of cauliflower cheese. I have seen thicker soup than that cheese sauce, which incidentally tasted nothing like cheese sauce. My mum then decided she'd like a brandy only to be told they didn't have any. Have you ever heard of a pub with no brandy. I felt so sorry for the waitresses who were rushed off their feet as we were not the only ones complaining. Will not be going back.

Really nice pub. Had fish and chips and it was lovely. The staff was friendly as well.

A birthday lunch on a friday afternoon lunch for my mum. Firstly, i want to say that the food was good and we loved how dog friendly they were. Would go again, hopefully when weather is nice and we can sit outside. However, as we love a nice drink with food, we ordered prosecco based cocktails. Which tasted absolutely awful. Sent these back and requested a bottle of prosecco instead, and were then told they'd run out. That suggested they'd used some dregs of whatever they had left in our quite pricey cocktails, hence how awful they then tasted. The pub got loud and sweary around 3.30-4ish unfortunately, with an influx of staff from neighbouring business(es) and it was time to go.
