Was really looking forward to trying this place, having driven past it many times. To say my wife and I were underwhelmed would be an understatement. Things started out bad as there are no parking facilities so we had to park some distance away on a fairly narrow and busy road. The table next to ours was way too close, so people passing had to edge their way past sideways. This meant that their backsides were hanging over our table as they passed. The food arrived quickly but was not particularly good, both taste and presentation. I had slow cooked belly pork with black pudding and it just doesn't work. Also, the peas on my plate were quite clearly out of a tin. My wife had garlic mushroom starter. This turned out to be a plate of slop. Her main was chicken with potatoes and leak, nothing special about it. No additional vegetables included. There is a huge disparity between the price they charge and the quality of the food served. I won't be going back and advised my daughter and son in law not to bother. The slop you can see in the picture, along with a diet coke each, cost over Β£50.

Pub has some very interesting objects linked to the famous dambusters squadron, on display and dotted all round the pub. There was a great atmosphere there when we visited as it was their real ale night with live music in their outdoor courtyard. Nice selection of food available, beautifully cooked and presented. Staff were extremely busy but still managed to look after us without delay. I would certainly recommend that you book in advance to save potential disappointment.

What an amazing place. Took my Dad who is here from New Zealand, it is somewhere he has always wanted to visit, the pub landlord have him a tour and explained the history of it all. Made the experience even more special than it already was for him. Thank you so much β‘

Excellent food with a great choice of very good of ales on handpump. Never had a disappointing meal there, always an enjoyable meal. Full of bomber command and Lancaster memorabilia.

On arriving the Landlord was more interested in talking to his mates than greeting customers. The waiting staff were very young and had no immediate answers to beer / wine available . Food was very average. Couple on next table (in dining area) had a dog on their lap !

Lovely food. Plentiful portions. Interesting artefacts throughout. Efficient, friendly staff. Will visit again. Note for diners...you might need to take a cushion for some of the seats!(Hence 4 not 5 stars)
