Friendly staff & great Sunday lunch

A dog friendly pub on the outskirts of Scunthorpe. Their Sunday lunch was lovely and there was plenty of meat too. If you didn't fancy a roast dinner there were alternatives. There are separate smoking and non-smoking outside areas which makes a nice change for us non-smokers!

If I could give zero stars here I would. From the minute we arrived for my mums birthday the bar staff couldn’t be ruder. Dark haired lady at the bar, couldn’t be less bothered and made us feel uncomfortable from the off. Zero chat, only half concentrating. Practically threw our food at us later on. Steaks were the poorest quality meat. She could tell we were feeling uncomfortable so decided to clear off and go and sit at the bar and chat to some fella leaving the young lad In the restaurant to serve us- he was lovely - (Luke) polite, attentive and apologetic that the rude woman had had a ‘busy day’. They even have the nerve to charge service despite me having to go and collect our drinks that we ordered and I’d seen sitting on the bar for 10 minutes. If the woman who was in charge that night is the landlady then god help them. If she’s the manager then she needs to go on a hospitality course. In the current economy with this industry struggling making your customers feel welcome is surely important.For comparison went to a different pub the next evening and for lunch at a cafe in town and I almost wept at how good real friendly service is and how much of a difference it makesI’d never go back here and do not recommend- unless maybe you’re a regular and like to sit there playing poker in the bar - maybe they just don’t like new customers? Oh and my advice to Luke is you are brilliant, if it wasn’t for you we’d have walked out, so thank you.

Don’t go. Rude bar staff which given current economic issues is staggering. I would strongly recommend not bothering spending your hard earned here. Rudest bar staff I’ve come across in years. Only got a star because no stars isn’t an option

Excellent food, very attentive staff

Lovely place but half the stuff on the menu wasn't available and only four deserts, not to choose from, there was only four portions to choose from!I've no doubt we caught it on a very bad night and will be trying it again at some point.

What a brilliant pub/restaurant. Visited during a family visit nearby. Busy but excellent service. Food was delicious lots of choice and reasonably priced. Coffees and coke deleted from bill due to wait in service but we didn't mind. Will visit again when in area.

We had a absolutely lovely meal here. We were a party of 5 celebrating a birthday. All our food was absolutely delicious. The service was 5* the staff so friendly and welcoming. We would definitely come back again.
