Chilli and Chives in Babergh

If I could give 0 stars to this awful company then I would do exactly that. Being mine and my partners first time in Lavenham we were looking for a nice place to sit and eat for lunch. We came across chilli and chives, there were no visible timings so we walked in and asked the first waitress if it was okay to sit. This young and brunette waitress was delightful and greeted us with warmth, and let us know it was only coffee and cakes left. We politely asked if she knew if the coffee shop next door was serving any food as we were really looking for a larger thing to eat before any cakes (even though their selection did look delightful). Unfortunately, before this woman had the chance to answer, a boisterous middle aged blonde woman (presumably the owner) barged round the corner and with complete distaste, disrespect and rudeness told us that the coffee shop next door were nothing to do with them, repeated they weren’t serving food themselves, that they shut at 4 and then even repeated to tell us in the same breadth they shut in 15 minutes and then left. Me and my partner were left utterly speechless, we weren’t aware of timings as they hadn’t made it obvious on the outside, we were treated in an unforgivable manner and I am actually grateful she was rude to us before we spent a single penny on her business. Would not recommend to anyone, spoken to like illogical imbeciles for no reason at all. Instead went to delightful ice cream shop over the road with amazing service.

Fantastic food .we had scones with jam and clotted cream . Best ive ever tasted . friendly service and nothing was to much hassle . Will Defo be returning . very good prices . Gluten free .dairy free and vegan options available

Lovely visit! My mum and I are coeliac and my mum is also allergic to soya, peanuts and hazelnuts and the staff were great at catering for us. They had gluten free cakes (delicious!) and the gluten free scones were some of the best I've ever had! Thoroughly reccomend a visit.

Gorgeous cafe in the heart of Lavenham, also saved us from the rain! Big fan of the entire cabinet of cakes. Just what we needed. The carrot cake was so delicious!

Wonderful food in a lovely little tea room. Set in this beautiful sleepy little town of Lavenham, check the board for dishes as the menu only has the standard items. 5* Hygiene rating.

Chilli and Chives is a very welcoming tea room with fabulous afternoon tea, lovely coffee and scrumptious cakes. The staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is very pleasant. Great location in the middle of the beautiful village of Lavenham. Highly recommended!

Nice little place to come for a quick bite or a larger lunch. They do hot or cold food and do specials. Tea, coffee are sold here. I had the hot chocolate, a bit small but a very good one. Came with foam. They do cakes as well. They looked home made. I had no room left after my lunch. :-(. The lady was helpful and friendly. You should try thier very own coleslaw, hum to die for. Has a twist to it
