Absolutely gorgeous hotel, beautiful location in the quaint village of Long Melford with plenty to see and do. Service was exemplary and both dinner and breakfast were delicious!

Very good Sunday lunch, a varied menu and an enjoyable meal in a relaxed atmosphere. Quality of the food, excellent 🙂

Dinner for 3 on a Friday night. The dinning room is lovely, bright airy, large window,s lovely wooden floors and sturdy table. The service was friendly and welcoming from the minute we stepped through the door, young team of confident and enthusiastic waiting & bar staff. The menu was local, seasonal modern British with vegan options for all three courses. The food was, without exception delicious. Perfectly cooked & presented. We live in central London & eat out a lot. We all agreed that this was one of the best meals out we have had in a long time, and very good value for money.

a little bit pricey but if you've got the money I couldn't recommend it more! incredible service, the dining experience was out of this world, especially for my expectations. truly a 5* experience. my only quarrel was with my room in particular being a bit small and lacking for a five star hotel

Had Sunday lunch for Mother’s Day. Staff very friendly and welcoming, and the food was amazing. Had halibut and seafood bisque, with samphire and fennel. Then rhubarb and blood orange trifle.Was a really nice touch in that the mums got to choose a card for a free Mother’s Day gift (I got a glass of wine!).

Would've been 4 stars had the bathroom in room 7 not let it down...bath had no water pressure and shower was temperamental. Food was nice and the hotel ambience was good.

Stumbled on this pub accidentally, and was very pleasantly surprised. Very friendly accomodating staff and great food. Would definitely return and stay.

My husband & I went here for lunch & it was absolutely fabulous. The food was delicious, my fish was cooked to perfection & my husbands pork melted in his mouth.Good wine list, nice cocktails, lovely ambience & decor.Big shout out to Michael, the manager, super friendly & great ambassador for The Black Lion & the Chestnut group, very knowledgeable about the other establishments in the chain.Also, very important to us, it is super dog friendly!Highly recommend.

Stopped for lunch and had the vegetarian cauliflower option which was delicious and very filling and well presented. It is a beautiful country pub in an amazing setting - perfect to stay over if you need a relaxing country retreat as there are some great walks in the area. Michael and the team were really helpful and friendly - look forward to going back.

Delicious Roast yesterday for our table of 8.Good selection on menu , plating & presentation excellent ( compliments to the chef & all kitchen staff involved)Decor on trend & make a great setting for family photo / social media opportunities.Prices relative to atmosphere,experience and quality of venue. Well positioned courtyard with all the little extra touches.thoroughly recommended if you're looking for an extra touch of class. Private Dining room also available which would lean perfectly towards Christmas parties / Special celebrations.
