The Butt and Oyster in Babergh

Splendid location and a lovely pint Adnam’s Broadside. The downstairs bar is utterly charming. The staff were friendly and helpful. Only reduced to 4 stars because the wait for the food was in excess of 40 mins and the roast potatoes weren’t great… that said I think roast potatoes must be hard to do in bulk.

Consistently good overall. Nice staff. Good service. Nice location. Very clean. On this occasion the pie, gravy and vegetables were great. The mashed potatoes tasted like instant mash though and I'm pretty certain that they were. They are short on parking here so that's worth remembering.Have previously tried many of the normal menu items. The specials board always has a good choice and have never had any major problems so I would recommend a visit here.

Fantastic food: beef perfectly done and healthy options very tasty too. Laid back atmosphere, but staff very helpful. Fabulous view and great beer. Returned very happy 😊

A wonderfully located pub right on the river Orwell. Very friendly and welcoming staff who couldn't do enough for us and our puppy. Lovely and cosy with open fires. Would definitely visit again.

A very nice place on the river Orwell. The sweet chilli beef stir fry is very sweet to the point I could not finish it. The whole seabass is excellent. Chilli prawns were ok, the chilli overpowers the other flavours

Came across this little gem on Wednesday, after it was recommended to me. The location is brilliant, even on a winter's day, overlooking the river. The staff are really welcoming, friendly and helpful. The food I had was fantastic, and exceeded my expectations by far. I had the baked camembert followed by a whole sea bream, both of which were specials. Great that it's open for food all day, and that it's such good quality! Can't wait to go back.

Beautiful location, brilliant service, the waitresses are friendly, attentive, professional....Top notch food & excellent Adnams beer on draft. Highly recommended, will definitely go back again.

Friendly staff, lovely views with plenty to watch whilst eating. Really nice food with large portions. Definitely need a lay down afterwards 😁

A great pub for seafood! Nice location and view of the river and some unusual dishes on the menu too. My husband loved the giant onion rings too!
