Me and my wife had dinner and what can we say it was 10/10 the fish was amazing we ordered small and it almost filled the plate my wife is gluten free and I tried her batter it was delicious excellent food and service

Rare to find a fish and chips restaurant and doesn't disappoint, friendly family like service and the food is spot on with the option to have grilled fish .

We go to the Codfather quite often for both eat in and takeaway and the service, food and all round atmosphere is fantastic. Tried the Scallops for the first time this week and they were cooked to perfection. They definitely know thir fish.

Not really value for money in my opinion - £31 for 2 x ordinary fish and chips with 2 cans. Sometimes great service can make up for high prices, but this wasn't the case either, not even average. As we paid there was not even a thank you or goodbye, just chatted to each other as they took the money. The only thing I liked was the décor. I won't be going back.

My husband, me, our daughter and son-in-law visited this eatery first week in September. We were very warmly greeted and led the way to sit at a table. It seemed that the establishment was family run and all the staff were really friendly. You have a choice of fish and chips to takeaway or to sit down and eat in the comfort of the beautifully decorated restaurant. There are also other choices from the menu including starters and desserts. I was amazed by the toilets and the hallway outside the toilets. Decor was beautiful and the toilets are the cleanest toilets I've ever seen when visiting a restaurant. We ordered fish and chips and a platter for 2. My husband really doesn't like salmon much but when he tasted the platter salmon he was highly impressed. The platter was generously sized and very well presented. I am gluten free and although this wasn't a gluten free night the staff member offered to make me some batter especially but I am not celiac just intolerant so I could have my fish cooked with other fish so it wasn't a problem. The batter was delicious, the mushy peas were enough for 2 people and the chips weren't greasy. I feel that the staff in this establishment went far and beyond to make sure we had a lovely eating experience, beautiful ambience and for the whole experience I would like to say 10/10 from our family. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! Thank you staff and management for everything 😊

Fantastic food, superb service and well worth the drive to and from Chelmsford (an hours round trip)

Nice to sit and eat with meals served straight from the fryer which means good crispy batter. Pleased to have the choice to be able to have your fish grilled and their Codfather fish platter of grilled cod, salmon, king prawns and scallops with grilled green veg was so delicious. Good service and will call again.
