I took a friend to The George and we had a delicious lunch in beautiful surroundings. My starter of potted trout, pea puree and egg was so tasty that I will choose it again when I go next time. My friend's butternut squash soup was beautifully presented and practically a main meal. We both enjoyed our main meals of risotto very much and were too full up for anything else! A special thank you to the staff for their help and knowledge of any allergens in the dishes.

Pan fried skate wing with butter & capers from the specials board is some of the best fish I have tried in any restaurant, the chicken boudain starters is particularly tasty.

Lovely oldy worldly village pub. Loads of nooks and crannies and history everywhere. Good selection of beer, wine and spirits.

A solid pub with rooms in an excellent location. We rocked up, out of the blue, and they were more than happy to accommodate.Service was friendly and the food was good, although the portion sizes were absolutely gargantuan. Needless to say by the main course i was already stuffed, and couldn’t do a dessert!Good options at the bar and on tap, so heartily recommended for locals is visitors alike

A bit disappointing. I'd heard good things about The George and when we arrived for a birthday lunch today I was looking forward to an excellent meal. The snacks and starters were very good, but unfortunately the main course was let down by cold plates and lukewarm meat (I opted for the roast pork). The separately served vegetables were piping hot, but this didn't make up for the cool meat. To finish, I chose the cheese with chutney and apple. The cheese was, I think, meant to be served ripe, but it wasn't. The chutney was fair, but not excellent. A medley of crackers accompanied the cheese, but they were run-of-the-mill. A smaller number of one decent type of cracker would have been more appealing. The service was fairly good, but I got the feeling the place was unable to cater well for the number of covers they had - perhaps they should consider reducing their booking numbers.I'm very sympathetic to the hospitality industry in the light of Covid, but I do think The George could do better.

Disappointing after all the reviews. Hardly any vegetables, the food was over salted and the fish over cooked. My partners meal was supposed to be stuffed trout. It was not stuffed. A pile of pearl barley served with potatoes?! and not much veg. The staff gave me the impression they did not much care for whether you were there or not - a bit off hand and disinterested.

Absolutely fantastic, outstanding food and lovely service staff! Be it a fish starter, the burger (best burger in years!!), the duck breast or a simple courgette flatbread, the food exceeded our expectations and was, compared to the quality and taste, very reasonably priced. Highly recommended

Went for lunch today, dog friendly. Sat in the lovely garden, lovely to see they grow some if their own produce.Quick, friendly service.Food was exceptional, we had the burger dish. One of the best burgers I have had without a doubt, simply delicious! Food was presented lovely too.Jeffrey the dog gave the garden and his bowl of dog water a big paw thumbs up. He also enjoyed a cheeky chip!Surrounding area of the pub was very picturesque too. Lovely surroundings buildings and lovely green on a summers day.
