The Lion at Leavenheath in Babergh

Absolutely delicious. I had the vegan menu, yummy anti pasta, with the most delicious balsamic pickled onions I've ever tasted. Followed by Cajon vegetables with cous cous. Again really really delicious. It was great to have a varied menu being a vegetarian. Hubby had haddock scotch egg for starter and hunters chicken for main, which he really enjoyed. He said he is usually disappointed with hunters chicken but not this time.

Absolutely incredible. First place I've visited for food since having Coeliac disease and most likely the only place I will consider in the future. Amazingly extensive gluten free menu offering a variety across all 3 courses. The food was without fault and I have never had an encounter with such friendly staff who not only reassured me about their menu but they also took the time to engage with me as to why it was so important. I doubt there are few places locally who are mindful enough of conditions such as my own to ensure they have a completely separate fryer for chips and other fried items ordered by gluten free customers. For the first time in months I could enjoy a meal without having to second guess my choices and without feeling like I was a burden on their kitchen staff. I felt like an average person eating well above average food.

100% recommend The Lion. When we arrived (group of ten) we were looked after very attentively and efficiently (thanks Gary!) and the food options were extensive, including excellent options for veggie and gluten-free. The chef stayed on beyond the end of his shift to ensure that we were able to have the full choice of all menus, and that was very much appreciated.The food itself was first-rate, and cooked and presented superbly. My wife commented that she couldn't ever remember having had a better bit of hake anywhere else. We continued to be looked after all through the meal by the staff, and the waitress (sorry, didn't catch her name) was also kind enough to take some group photos.In all, *highly* recommended for food, drink and all-round service. We had a lovely time and I look forward to re-visiting when we are back in the area
