Fabulous lunch at the Marquis. Pricey but big portion sizes. Cocktails are delicious too. Even mocktails. Lovely atmosphere and printed me my own dietary menu. Always consistently good food.

The location and surroundings were beautiful, as was the restaurant. The beef Wellington is one of the best I've ever had, the beef was so tender and pastry nice and thin, the scallops and black pudding starter was out of this world. The cocktail however was awful, a work friend and I had a mojito and he took his back it was so awful!!... the bar staff did not seem surprised which was strange! Our drinks took so long to come when we arrived we had to re-ask for them and the staff in general were nice but on another planet in a busy restaurant like that.

My husband and I went for lunch and took our two dogs. Everyone was so friendly and they even bought the dogs their own water bowls and treats! Food, service, wine list all excellent. We sat outside and the weather was sunny then raining, as soon as it rained they came out and put the heaters on for us. They are doing really extensive renovations to the grounds but have made a huge effort to make it as unobtrusive as possible. It's also beautiful inside. Can't wait to go back

Food was superb and the building itself was lovely. I thought that some of the dining tables were too close together and at times it felt like other guests were on your table! Management would do well to consider thinking about the dining room layout. Other than that the experience was excellent.

Quaint place over various levels, only went for a meal. Bit of a walk from car park, thankfully not raining on our visit.Starters bit limited to the unusual, such as snails, squid, crab, not enough traditional. Same with mains leaning towards the unusual, steaks nice but expensive as was Beef Wellington. Sweets not bad, but again some trading would go a long way to being useful.Overall what we had was very nice, but bit expensive.

The Marquis is a very special place for myself and my fiance. Having got engaged last year. The food in the restaurant is always excellent. The staff always go above and beyond to ensure that every visit is as enjoyable as the last.A particular mention must go to Kyle who always looks after us, he is a very personable gentleman and is a credit to the business. Here's to many more visits in the future.

Unfortunately this place has gone downhill. It is very expensive, but I don't mind paying if the food is excellent. It isn't. The starter and main was fine, although a week later I don't really remember it. The puddings were a disaster though. They felt cheap - very sugary. With places like the Peacock at Chelsworth around now, it's hard to see the Marquis staying in business.

Stayed for one night 27/2/22, was a lovely stay. Room great size, very clean and warm. Staff very friendly and helpful. Food in restaurant great quality and very tasty. Evening meal wasn’t rushed, all contributed to relaxing stay. Only negative comment would be that we were woken at 0730 due to building works going on attached to the building, and our room was at the front. (No5) Receptionist had told us noise shouldn’t start until about 9am. We enjoyed our stay, bed really comfy too.

We had a really good meal, However the starter of the squid which I was the only person in my group to have, so couldn’t compare with others I found was very dry and had no taste. The waiter/ waitress staff needs to have their own stations in order to communicate with each other, however they were all really lovely.

The Marquis was absolutely incredible. The setting was beautiful - I loved the beams and the big windows. The food was amazing and the presentation of it was gorgeous. My favourite part was the staff, I have never received better customer service. They were all so professional, friendly and polite. This place pulls out all the stops to give you a amazing experience, definitely will be returning here on more special occasions. Thank you so much for a lovely evening.
