Aroma in Basildon

Excellent food well worth a visit, only downside is that it gets very warm inside so make sure you can take layers off to stay comfortable!

We haven't been to an Aroma buffet since the Freeport one closed 10+ years ago and felt a bit unsure what we'd make of this remaining location due to mixed reviews online.We arrived at about 1700 on a Saturday and were seated straight away with drinks orders taken as soon as we sat down. All food trays were well stocked and we saw them being replenished regularly. The food itself was the same quality with the same flavours as we remember from Freeport (a carbon copy almost). It wasn't the same quality you'd get from a chinese a la carte restaurant but considering the huge choice, variety and the fact it was an unlimited buffet, it was perfectly acceptable. It's also one of the few purely Chinese style buffets left locally (not a 'world buffet' like most are now).I would recommend to others and would make the return journey for it again. If you have fond memories of the Aroma in Braintree, this is the only place that comes close :)

If you love Chinese food or you want to try it, this is a perfect place to go. Very good food, fresh and tasty with decent prices.

Went there with a group of 10 people on Tuesday evening. It was quite crowded inside around the food which I didn't like as I don't like people looking over my shoulder.One of the staff members was making us feel rushed picking our plates from table before we finished eating which I find very rudeFood was okay nothing amazing, you had to wait for some dishes to be cooked as they run out of them due to being busy.I left quite disappointed with the place. Will I go again ? Maybe 🤷🏻‍♀️If you want cheap, quick Chinese food thats the place but if you are looking for more Restaurant feel I would stay clear.

Still a great place to eat if you like helping yourself. Food is always fresh and is replaced quickly when get low.

Went there by myself out of curiosity. Pleasantly surprised. Decent vegetarian options and food was in good temperature. Not everything was up to my taste but that’s normal. I’d recommend.

Great food and great service. The only thing that disappointed was that there was no prawns in the prawn toast at all which is a big deal for me (you shouldn't state you have something in a dish if you don't). Overall really enjoyed our meal.

Visted today for a Birthday meal for my Son and was absolutely appalling. The chicken wings were off and smelt and tasted rancid like fish and sour too and pink and watery inside.The waitresses took it away and said "ooh no".Minutes later i presume a manageress came over and her attitude was appalling and was told we don't know how chicken should taste like the way they do it and that the chef's looked at it and it was fine without tasting it .seconds later they removed the wings and put fresh out .There were 12 off us at £19 each plus drinks and we only finished a plate before being put off by what we had on our plates and ruining my son's Birthday, definitely after over 10 years of going there won't be coming back .Rude ,patronising and clearly don't care about giving people food poisoning .

The worst food me and my family have ever eaten. In fact, we didn't eat it. We got up and left. The chicken we were pretty sure, wasn't chicken... it was awful. Do not eat here.

Great not massive wait to get in. Lots of various foods to eat savoury and sweet. Sparkling water was warm not cold only problem. Enjoyed visit not hurried or hassled. Plates cleared away quickly not stacking up. Enjoyed will go again.
