China City Chinese Takeaway in Basildon

I was told 45 mins. 15 mins later a knock at the door it was the Chinese by surprise!! The chips had been cooked and re cooked. The rice tasted of bleach. The food was horrible. I no wish I had saved my money now.

I've used them for years on a regular basis. Its Friday I understand they will be busy o get this but after waiting an hour and quarter to call them back to ask where it is the lad said another half hour... I give them the benefit of the doubt and after 2 hours still nothing. I asked to speak to the manager and got greeted by the most rude and sarcastic woman I have ever spoken to. If they stated at the beginning there was going to a 2 hour wait i would just ordered from elsewhere but the lies are not acceptable. They was obviously short on drivers too as the guy said the food was ready and waiting for the driver to collect. They did offer a £5 discount but that didn't interest us. Our kids have been waiting patiently. Dont lie to customers Disgusting behaviour.

I ordered my food and when it turned up is was wrong, chowmein was greasy and looked like it had been cooked in dirty oil and when I complained to the manager after using this shop for the last 5 to 6 years she said I always complain, i don't ever complain she is rude and not helpful just abusive and when I said this is the last time I use them she said good, if that's customer service then she should get a new job. This shop has lost all its stars for me, I will never recommend it again.

This is our favourite takeaway. The food is always tasty and good quality and the staff in the shop are always pleasant. Highly recommended.

Absolutely disgusting with this place, after waiting for nearly 2 hours the food was not up to there usual standard, I called requarding the satay chicken and was rudely told what did I want her to to about it. Called back as not happy with rest of food after tasting it and the girl hung the phone up on me.

Lovely staff & lovely food. When it says "spicy" could add more spice to make it spicy. Good menu. Quick & reasonably priced.

absolute incompetent receptionist.Got my order wrong and told me I had to pay for what I actually wanted! when i explained they should rectify their mistakes she kept coming up with an excuse!ordered from here for 2 years as they're local but would never order again!

Obviously know the take away has been taken over been using them for at least 15 years but after the last two wrong delivery the attitude of new manager never again 😟

The food here is always excellent, however I’ll have to dine somewhere else if the deliveries keep taking an hour and a half plus 😡

We have been using China City as our preferred local Chinese for several years now and we have never experienced any issues. Whether going into the takeaway itself or ordering for home delivery service has always been fast and efficient. The staff have always been friendly and attentive They offer a vast selection of Chinese cuisine and are always happy to assist in any modification to dishes required, especially ifballergies are involved. The food has always been hot and tasty , portions are also generous too.
