Dragon Chef in Basildon

Dragon Chef REALLY need to update their menus as the information on them is not correct - you cannot pay over the phone by card and if you use the website every item is 20% more expensive, presumably because they don't own the website and add a surcharge to items to cover the cost to use a pre-made platform. Also, the 10% off for collection as advertised on the menu apparently no longer applies. The menus available at the restaurant are the same too so Dragon Chef could get in trouble for essentially false advertising. UPDATE YOUR MENUS CHAPS!!!That being said, we placed an order over the phone and agreed to collect to avoid the website surcharge and as I didn't have cash to pay a delivery driver it made no sense to go to a cash point then go home and wait for delivery when I might as well collect while I'm out getting the cash...The food was very hot when I collected, it had clearly just been prepared, the chap at the counter was polite and apologised for the 'confusion' about the menus, he also gave us some free prawn crackers as a little gesture of goodwill. Another chap there was also very polite too, so I can say that the service is good. The food was very nice too, tasted quite authentic and the portions were quite big. All in I'd give 5 starts for the food, 5 for the service when I was in the restaurant but 2 stars for the massively incorrect menus. If Dragon Chef update their menus to contain correct information then it'd really help their business!

Ignore these Karen’s below complaining about nothing, they suck.This is the best TAKEAWAY I have had in years and by far the best CHINESE TAKEAWAY I’ve ever had hands down.The obvious care taken in making their sauces is evident, their sauces are clearly homemade and taste immense.The crispy shredded beef was perfectly crisp without being in this congealed sauce and burnt to a crisp. Chow Mein was so nicely done. King Pao absolutely perfect.Hands down would recommend to anyone and everyone.This place deserves an award.Regarding delivery, I felt bad as the guy had to come through sets of private land gates but he ended up ringing me just outside.They were half an hour early who would have thought.5/5

Lovely food. Big chunks of meat and prawns. Really enjoyed it and the duck was fabulous 👌 x

Probably the worst Chinese/Thai I have ever ordered. Definitely would not use again. Food was over an hour late which was understandable due to the weather but also cold and tasted awful. Certainly will never use again.

Absolute joke ... took 1.5 hours to turn up... was all cold ... charged me £3.00 delivery when the menu says free delivery for under 5 miles .... called them up and said that we live 3 miles away and they said they have the right to charge delivery if they want.... even though the menu says free delivery ..... work that one out .... would never use again and would not recommend to anyone else ....

Haven’t used Dragon Chef for over a year but I get at least one email a week asking me to order so last night we pre-ordered just before they opened. A few minutes later they cancelled my order without reason. Tried to call once they were open but no answer yet their website and just eat profile were still seemingly taking orders. Keeping a close eye on that transaction in my bank account. Won’t bother again.

The first and last time I will use this Chinese. The worst by far. Ribs covered in fat. Wrong sauce with ribs. Hard chips. The rice was tasteless. And as for the delivery man, you could’ve been a bit more sociable. Don’t think he said a word

Absolutely disgusting, we waited 2 hours, phoned to find out where our food was to find out they had not even started to cook nor were they intending too! You should be ashamed.

Ordered via Deliveroo. Order never arrived despite waiting nearly an hour after the estimated delivery time. Restaurant did not answer phone - rang and rang with no response. Deliveroo forced to give me a refund. Terrible service

Spent £40 here food arrived on time but missing an item not a problem we thought mistakes happen we will just call and im sure they will send it ...... nope!, we called and basically got told we were lying and an argument started over a £5.50 curry!!!! cos of course after spending £40 your gonna lie to get a free bloody curry!!! we were told it had 100% been delivered which it obviously had not, absolutely terrible customer service would not use again rude rude rude!!!!!!!
