Friern Manor in Basildon

Great setting and staff were friendly and attentive, but facilities didn't match up to expectations. When there (23 April 2022) the bridal party rooms had a poor supply of hot water and locks on doors were waiting to be fixed - which did happen.The food was really good and they provided a good evening function.Drinks from the bar were very expensive.There was a significant distance between the main venue back to the guest rooms which involved walking outside on gravel and grass. Not much fun if you're in best attire and it rains!

Attended a wedding. Absolutely fantastic venue. Very helpful and friendly staff. Great food. Well organised and welcoming.

Absolutely beautiful place for a wedding. The Staff are so great ,hard working and very friendly and attentive. I would highly recommend this venue. Breakfast was as lovely as the food for the wedding.

Just want to say Thankyou so much for our wedding on the 22nd October 2021.We looked at so many venues but none ever wowed me.We had such an amazing day.Charis was so helpful in planning, reassured me over everything. Especially when I was very late on the morning 🤣All the suppliers we used were great, Paul the pianist, Leigh for chairs and blossom trees, Stacey for flowers, Paul the dj.The food was amazing, everyone commented. The service was fantastic, we were really looked after. All allergies catered for. Any drinks we wanted ect. All staff were really polite on the bars and waiting staff.I don’t think you get customer service like much anymore. We felt like we were the only couple getting married for months.The man who looked after us through the wedding breakfast was great, as was the younger man who took over in the evening but I can’t remember their names 🤣The breakfast was also lovely.I just wish we could do it all over again.I recommend you to lots of couples 😊ThanksMr & Mrs Gould(3rd date lucky)

Went for a xmas meal with friends (all inclusive). Very good value for money. Food was good, service was excellent and professional, good location. Great entertainment too. The only thing there were 3 men at our table who said the beer was awful, judging by other tables, many of the beer jugs were also left full. My only concern though everything else was really good, including the distance between each tables, there was absolutely no social distancing when we came in. There was an open bar with far too many people congregated in front of it. We should have been directed to our tables with prosseco upon arrival instead of standing in a big hall where people were circulating with no masks and no social distancing.

Great location for Christmas parties, I think it was about £35 all in, the venue catered for food allergens and made me the best gluten free Christmas dinner I’ve ever had.Vegetarians well catered for too, however it’s hard to be a vegetarian coeliac, lucky I eat meat occasionally so all was good.The alcohol is feee, so limited to types. Plenty of beer and wine and Perry on the table as well as Buck’s Fizz and water. A bottle gets emptied and it’s replaced.Would recommend.Word to the wise however if travelling by taxi book your return cab at the start of the night, if you are not an Uber user. As it was a two hour wait at midnight for a dab unless pre-booked. The venue is quite remote, this of course does not detract from being an amazing evening, just worth bearing in mind.

I attended my daughters wedding here on Sunday 3/10/21 and the venue was lovely as was the catering. My only concern was that we could not hear the ceremony, maybe the use of a microphone would be an ideal addition. Apart from that I would recommend Friern Manor to anyone looking for a really lovely place, the staff were fabulous and very friendly and helpful. I think I can speak for everyone by saying we all had a great day and send our thanks to everyone 😊

My daughter and new son in law got married here on Sunday and it was the best day ever. The house is amazing, as are the rooms and the grounds were impeccable. The staff were wonderful, nothing was too much trouble, and the food was out of this world. They worked so hard to make our day special, and they smashed it! I am definitely going back. They deserve more than 5 stars. Thank you to everyone for all you did.

Staff they great work hard for their money . Parking no issue at all . Drinks very expensive and all on card no cash . Place is very picturesque but lacked that little something . Pond needs cleaning and landscaping needs a good going through .but for a wedding venue it served it purpose and enjoyed I would like to visit again.

This is an absolutely wonderful wedding venue. Everything about this place is perfect. The staff are not only friendly but incredibly efficient at their jobs. The food, in my opinion, is five star all the way. And if you want a beautiful backdrop for your wedding photographs then this has to be the place for you because the gardens are exceptional, during the day and during the night. Try it, you'll love it, as did I.
