Hungry Horse in Basildon

The Four Seasons is a nice place for a quiet drink alone, with friends or family. Big screens with Sky Sports showing. Food prices are reasonable and children are allowed. I'm not sure about pets. Please ring and ask. I do recommend this to everyone as there is a lot of seating and a very large bar. Gets busy over the weekend.

Really love this pub but went for lunch on Friday and was disappointed.Two baguettes where ordered.The baguettes where under cooked and cut along the top like a hotdog bun and instead of the filling being in the baguette it was just on top with the baguette squashed down. You couldnt pick it up and eat it so we had to take everything off and try and put back together so it could be eaten like a sandwich and not beans on toast. I have never been somewhere that couldnt cut a baguette then put filling in it.

Had a mixed grill which took ages to arrive and then wasn't very warm when it did and the steak was very chewy. Would have complained but since I already waited an hour for it to show up I couldn't be bothered with another wait or the hassle.

Service poor, very rarely check bottom bar for waiting customers and when you can get attention of 1 of bar staff they just say you'll be better off coming thru to other bar if ya want serving, atrocious!!. Manager or regional manager needs to get a grip and sort this out. Trying to get on app to order from table is poor, can get on app but then seems to hang when it cos to pay and can take as long as waiting g at the bar to get served.

Liked the fact they do smaller meals and the offer of two smaller meals for £10.99. Lots of seating didn't wait very long for the meal , staff helpful and pleasant . Beer and drinks not overpriced.

Sunday roast was without a doubt the worst I have ever had, the first one was cold with a Yorkshire pudding that had been in the microwave longer than I had been sitting there. The second one obviously had meat from someone else's plate on it as it was covered in pepper and was told the kitchen doesn't use it. Got my money back and will never return, it's a shame as we only live around the corner.

Can be busy at times ( football etc), but I have always found the staff to be very helpful. Never had any issues with food. Just wish they still did the carvery

Staff were lovely and friendly, which is always nice. Beautiful pub. Food was good, as are all the hungry horse. Toilets could’ve been a lot cleaner as they stank and the bins were overflowing.

Was a really lovely meal we had.... only let down the mash on the kids meal was dry even with extra butter it still wasn't nice .

Love this place, really good food. We live in the East Midlands and actually live near a hungry horse. But, the food here is so so much better. I had the smokin jack burger and it was so much better than in the hungry horse where we live. Staff are really polite and was prompt in coming out. Toilets are clean and smell nice, and the main area is never too noisy. A+
