The best pie n mash shop in the world with the most loveliest friendliest staff, Give it anything other than 5 stars and I might come looking for you!

Is there any better place to get pie n mash?

Probably the worst pie/mash I’ve ever had. Rock hard crust and a luke warm meal. Also a 20 minute wait for a cup of tea while the urn was warming up! A shame as this place used to be so good.

Best pie and mash staff, great pies and mash and easy location to get to with parking nearby. My favourite place to go and they're probably sick of the sight of me with how often I'm there.

Good old fashioned pie mash shop. tasty pies, good mash and good liquor. For those interested in the construction, the pies had good crusty tops and soft bottoms. The filling is well browned and seasoned so if you're one of those who prefer your filling dry, pink or grey and totally bland because that's what you were unfortunate enough to be weaned on as a child then these aren't the pies for you.Pies are on the small/shallow side compared to some places but also the same size as many other places so not really a point to grumble about.Overall good experience, looking forward to visiting again.

This is the real deal, not like the puff pastry pies served up elsewhere like lakeside. The mash is how it should be, has the odd lump, the pies are the original pastry recipe and the Beef inside with the gravy is good stuff too. Just from tasting the food, don't think anything is prepacked or out of a jar, so I'm thinking that this stuff is cooked from scratch which you don't get much of these days. As far as value goes, yep good value and the banter from the ladies behind the counter comes for free, but that just makes the place welcoming, as for the liquor, tad too dark, more used to a lighter colour like I used to get here and back in the Smoke. Will I go back? Keep going back and when in Southend I visit that shop too. Keep up the good work and don't let my food history die like so much of it has 😉

The food here is really nice, good portion's and fairly priced. The eel's are absolutely great as is the liquor. I've also had the pie's here and they are also very nice. The staff are friendly as well. The only thing is it's a small place and seating can be hard when busy, the tables are small and chairs are close together because of seating space, so you're back to back with other customers when busy.
