Spice King Billericay in Basildon

Firstly I’d like to say I haven’t eaten here before an ordered based on recent feedback and reviews.I ordered delivery and it was prompt and on time a still very hot. The Masala wasn’t the best I’d ever had but wasn’t the worst either. The sauce was not oily at all, maybe a bit watered down and lacking flavour but packed enough heat and the chicken a little over cooked. The Mango Chutney was on point. That about all that was good.The sag Paneer was not at all to my liking i prefer it when the paneer is melted in with the spinach so it’s nice and creamy. That’s more on me than them.However the Mushroom rice ordered was so over bearing with lemongrass it was like eating lemongrass straight out of packet. Killed the rice completely.I ordered a Mix king PLATTER. Basically a mixed grill but whenever I’ve ordered platters before there’s enough to go around.This was more like a mix grill for one. 1 small piece of Kofta, 1 cube of chicken and 2 cubes of lamb ( the lamb was tough and stringy and lacked flavour)The Stuffed Pathara tasted like an old sock and I know that sounds harsh but honestly it I took two bites and the rest went in the bin but was hot on delivery.Finally and lastly Meat Somosa these were small and tasted like they had been a few days old, likely to have been heated.I have eaten at any other Indians in Billericay but I certainly won’t be ordering here again. I’ve eaten at my fair share of indian takeouts and I’ve had some great and some not so great. This one

Food is great and staff has really gone out of there way to help me deliver food to my uncle locally. I call from the states and they always make sure he gets a full meal that is good quality, hot and fresh once received. Thank you Spice King! Great food, great service.

The curry was watery and cold. The food was completely tasteless. Very disappointed. Would never go back.

We ordered the food which was a take away, when it was delivered all the dishes looked the same the chicken curry was so hot we could t eat it! There was a shrimp I think it was shrimp curry that we did not order, when I called themUp to tell them that they didn’t care and just put the phone down!! The roti we ordered was not cooked properly.. and the overall food was terrible we will never ever be ordering from there again and that came to around £40 not happy 😡

Personally I think this is one of the best curries in Essex!! Their food is fresh and not bad value for money. If you order direct and collect their promo is 10% off! Really friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Small but perfectly formed. Has 20 seats, book ahead. Great food and atmosphere. Doesn't have an alcohol licence so byo.

I have thoroughly enjoyed the food and experience at the Spice King, being a customer who has dined inside and had a take away. The staff are friendly and ask if you have any dietary requirements often I ask for the dishes to be slightly spicier.
