Taj Mahal in Basildon

I’ve eaten at Taj Mahal and it’s always been enjoyable but I just had a takeaway which was barely warm and swimming in oil and lacked taste. What a waste of £48

Meal for two, delivered hot and on time, delicious food and good portions, will definately return for more.

We stopped using in first lockdown due to portions being smaller and no freebies as expected in those times. Then did not return as saw poor reviews bout cooked food etc. But we used them on 1/3/21 and can say they are back on the game perfect portions perfectly cooked very tasty got the additional freebies arrived in good time will be going to order from out favourite local Indian again we have missed them (REMEMBER SUPPORT LOCAL BUSINESS AS IT CAN GO JUST LIKE THAT)

Always our go to for a curry but this time three out of four of us are unwell! We all had chicken which seems it may have been the issue? Such a shame as the food seemed great, not sure whats happened this time :(

Normally I'd give this place a 5* but ordered the chicken korma tonight and think they must of knocked the whole tub of coconut in to the sauce it was SO SO sweet I ate the chicken but only after I had knocked most of the sauce off and the saag pannier had no taste at all. Think they need to get the normal chef back in and fire this one. Sorry Taj Mahal but highly disappointed tonight!!

Service and staff were great. Venue looked nice, but I had a take away. However that is about the only good things I can say. The food was tasteless and a disappointment to real Indian cuisine. The bhuna sauce tasted of onion with a splash of tomato, with very tough lamb. The chicken curry was bland and tasteless. The stuffed paratha was a big mush in oil. The biryani had a good flavour but next to no meat in it and the vegetable curry was bland and watery. To top it all off I realised as I was leaving that the restaurant has a 2/5 star food hygiene rating! I really hope I don't have an upset stomach in the morning. Needless to say, we won't be back which is a real shame as I had high hopes for this place.

Ordered over £20 on sunday to get free chicken tikka went to collect . came home . Chicken tikka was missing called them up while eating they try to hash me away saying chicken tikka wasn't included but after long haggle for chicken tikka they agree to deliver but came with tow piece of chicken tikka in the portion i was like whats the point even delivering that lol apart from that food was lovely

Absolutely fantastic, one of the best meals I've had in a long time. Was cooked really nice and was washed down with a chilled cobra beer. Very happy customer here. The staff was also very friendly and polite, I'll definitely be going back here sometime soon

Take away - Really good food and portion size. Delivered on time. Would avoid ordering drinks though £1.50 for a can of coke!
