The Shepherd and Dog in Basildon

We had our mother's day lunch here in the marquee. The food was superb, the staff and the owners were amazing. Very attentive and nothing was too much for them. The venue is gorgeous, the marquee was decorated beautifully, so so clean. They had a fabulous singer, she was excellent. The outside area for children was perfect too. The owners attention to detail is spot on. Even better, my dogs were allowed too. They even had cushions for the dogs, blankets for the people etc. 10/10 we will be back!

I left a post giving only one star a mistake should have been five the place and food is fabulous, the staff just terrific you must go.

We had a lovely lunch. Our waitress was Amy, who couldn't have been more delightful. Very helpful and attentive. We all enjoyed our lunch and will be making a return visit.

We went for Sunday lunch. The best roast in the local area that we have tried. Nice atmosphere, great service and good value for money. The new owners have turned this place around and make you feel welcome. We will be back.

Lovely place great food, felt welcome by some of the staff, there was one waitresses that made me feel very unwelcome. She came passed our area where we seated she would pull face, give dirty looks on every occasion. She went to everyones table see if everything was okay, except for us. I will not be going there again, what a shame.

Amazing through and through. Welcomed as soon as we walked through the door by more than one staff member.Waitress was bubbly and down to earth. And did her job very well.Food was flavoursome and good portions.Table was clean and nicely laid out.Price is great for the quality of it all.Decor and atmosphere beautiful. Even the toilets are stylish.Winning all the way.Look forward to coming back.

Food here is absolutely fabulous. Staff very welcoming and friendly. Did not feel we were being rushed in and out. Wonderful experience. Will be going back soon, it's now our favourite eating venue.

Excellent location. Excellent choice of food - the addition of the new Smoke House for walk-in food in the garden/marquee is a masterstroke. Ample Indoor/Outdoor seating. The menu choice is amazing. The food was perfect. The service was faultless - thank you Liv :-)First time visiting this gastropub. I will be visiting regularly from now on
