Unfortunately up there competing for the worst meal I’ve had in 50 years on this planet. I didn’t expect very much but this place underwhelmed my low expectations. The food was dire; overcooked veg, soggy potatoes or burnt potatoes, salty gravy and dry meats. The Yorkshire puddings were like eating paper. The clientele consisted of noisy kids, listening to their tablets full volume; poorly behaved adults (if you like builders bums, this is the place) and obnoxious patrons. The staff were pleasant and the manager very cheerful. The price was very inexpensive, so perhaps my expectations should have been even lower.

Went for a Sunday roast. Staff were friendly and the food came really quickly. The meat was delicious and the potatoes, Yorkshire's and veg was yummy. Very reasonably priced and large portions.

(Review from April 2022)The place was almost empty during half term which should have been a clue as to what was to come. Service as always was genuinely warm and cheerful from the staff but some elements were bit of a disappointment. We had an incorrect item added to the bill in the first instance then was given the wrong sized plate for one of our carveries. Carvery itself was mostly excellent, but we ordered chips for the kids and they were old and over cooked (recooked) with two very different sized portions. Dessert was a massive disappointment (see photos) when we're queried it an extra squirt of chocolate sauce was dumped on top. We also ordered a regular portion (2 scoops) of ice cream for the kids but was given a single scoop portion which bizarrely didn't come out with our desserts, we had to collect from the bar then they sent us back to the table bring it over. We also ordered decaf coffee due to a health condition and was given regular. Play area was lovely and clean and mostly well maintained apart from the bins which were full to the brim.(Review from August 2021)Cheap and cheerful. Honestly the best, most cheerful service here. But also the slowest. 20 minute wait for desserts when we were one of only 3 tables in the pub. 10 minute wait just to get service at the carvery (no other customers waiting). But food was super and the staff were just lovely.

We came here for Easter Sunday and it was so disappointing. So you can only order via app services, we didn’t realise and had to ask (30 minutes) after we fiddled with downloading the app we were able to go and queue. Only one person was serving which meant it took 20 minutes to be served. The meat was extremely bland and dry I had turkey and beef. Zero seasoning. The kids play area, I thought fantastic but all the items had been removed. The cakes looked fantastic but didn’t try.

Went with a large group from work for breakfast at 9am on a Saturday. Plenty of food, nice variety. Only thing that wasn't up to scratch Was the black pudding which was slightly hard.Being a large group we booked the raised area which was plenty.

Food was okay, some of the seats were dirty as was some of the cutlery 🤮. But, 90 percent of the staff were friendly and helpful. One was obviously very busy and feeling the pressure. The prices were competitive and I was tempted by the app for ordering but decided against it as it is not a chain I will be frequenting much.Additional: I feel that I should point out that the problems raised above were dealt with quickly and promptly and that the area for small children is great. Sorry that I did not put this in my original review. I only put that I will not be frequenting because I rarely travel out of my home area and I am not a fan of 'pub grub'

Sunday Lunch Carvery meal for 7, standard portions more than adequate, can't imaging eating the large let alone the bigger one. Small was ideal for a pensioner or children but not exactly small either. Food and service great. Will be going again.

Good service very friendly kind young lady waiters cosy and still covid safe. Well cooked food though chicken medley was bit crispy dark but tasty yummy had the tomato salsa with it can't rem the name but wasn't pepper corn sauce it was good. Not sure about plastic pint glass though was bigger and needed 2 hands pick it up. Few dirty water marks on it too.

Went for the carvery. The roast potatoes were very poor. In fact they looked more like boiled potatoes. Even when you cut into them, they weren't fully cooked. They couldn't even be bothered to take out the eyes. Will not be returning to thus place again

Friendly staff & great atmosphere. Carvery is really nice (would love to recommend serving peas on there as that is the only veg I eat! But that's my only negative point here) The cakes are absolutely delicious, huge slices too - must try! Me & my friends all really enjoy going here for food & a catch up :)
