I organised a tea for 2 as a birthday present for my cousin, who I hadn't seen for a few years. The decor was amazing. However the Food wasn't. The sandwiches were soggy and tasteless, the cakes were soggy and the chocolates melted on the stand. The tea was weak and tepid. When I asked to change or replace the cakes I was told it was not possible. At nearly £60 for a tea for 2 I was expecting something better. I was not Impressed and I won't go back

Not good. Went for breakfast - food very average - items missing and not replaced after informing serving staff but still charged for them. Very slow service with the drinks. When we got the bill there were items on it that were not even ours. Very poor all round we would have been better off going to a greasy spoon.

Excellent Sunday roast and well presented. Had 3 starters that we shared between the 5 of us. A delicious fish cake, yummy squid and a mushroom and blue cheese scotch egg, the like of which I have never had before, perfection. 3 full roasts and a smaller child’s one plus a braised beef shin, all of which were delicious.Desert of delicious lemon posset, they even put a candle one for the birthday girl. Also 1 Cherry chocolate parfait to die for and even the coffee was very goodGreat ambiance, bright, cheerful and airy orangery style, pleasant friendly staff. All together a most excellent experience and well worth the cost

Amazing looking place and very calming atmosphere. Lovely food which came out quickly. Service is amazing and efficient. Holly, Dan, Maddie and the team are so welcoming and friendly. Would definitely come again and recommend to others. Thank you 😊

The food was delicious and the venue pleasant. 4 stars because after having to pre order 3 weeks in advance for a party of 6 we still had to wait over an hour for food. Most staff were really pleasant but one was rude and dismissive when we tried to get her attention and didn't seem to want to bother with us.

Had a fantastic team meal with work colleagues. Food was amazing and had absolutely fantastic service from Dan and Calum. Would definitely recommend.

Never have I attended a restaurant and received such poor service. Having worked in the industry for over 10 years I was dismayed to be served a cappuccino from a cup that had lip stick marks on the side and a used spoon. My reaction at the time was of such shock that I simply returned the order to the bar and was informed a fresh cup of coffee would be delivered to the table, no apology and I paid for the cappuccino when I received the final bill. I sat down and resumed my meal and only the next day did I realise how terrible this was as I couldn't shake off the feeling it has left me with. To serve a drink in a used cup and spoon shows disregard for your customer, it shows a team that have no care for detail and makes your customer feel truly unhappy. I'm not quite sure why the management did not pick up on this, or why the waitress didn't feel they should rectify this by way of apology but I recommend some additional training to prevent any of your future customers feeling this way. A very sad experience indeed.

Nice atmosphere and serviceCocktails could be a bit more elaborated but nice!Parking on street not too far! A bit disappointed about meat, but the rest is great ! Terrace is lovely during summer time!

We came to have some drink and dessert for lunch time. My dessert had all not eaten things under cream. Who is doing that? It took time to pull off everything out. Wouldn't back. Wouldn't recommend. I told that to one of your staff (tall man with dark hair) and he said- that is normal. I said that this is ridiculous, but he ignored that.

Myself and my wife went to the Pen and Cob for breakfast this morning for the first time. The setting of the Pen and Cob overlooking the embankbankment gives a relaxing holiday vibe which is very pleasant. Staff were very polite and helpful and the waiting time for our food was reasonable. However some aspects in our breakfast were lacking. I ordered the eggs benedict which was served to me in what I can only describe as metal dogs bowl. However the eggs were cooked perfectly and the hollandaise was smooth and creamy, but the muffins could have been toasted for a little longer but that's just my preference. These small issues can easily be rectified. Overall it was a pleasant experience.Thank you for your response to my review. However I think we have different perception of what is classed as a high lipped porcelain plate. This was not the case as it was clearly an enameled tin plate that would not look out of place in a camping trip. However as previously stated our experience was pleasant.
