Slug & Lettuce Bedford in Bedford

Came in today after being turned away at The Rose for breakfast at 12.15.Despite it being past 12, the waitress went to ask if OK at the kitchen, and let us order. Really refreshing to get decent service from a place. Nice fry up too.Didn't catch the ladies name but reddish hair, in bunches, with glasses. Thank you (and to the kitchen). Bring back ADB!!!

Sophie and Mollie have given great customer service today. They have been very welcoming and polite. I would definitely recommend coming into the S and L in Bedford.

Booked a cocktail making class here as part of a hen party and it was excellent. Our hosts Lauren and Candice were attentive, highly skilled and made sure the group had a great time. Would absolutely book again.

We had a craving for steak and chips and as we hadn't booked a table at Miller and Carter, thought to pop in to S&L High St Bedford. Regrettable decision. The steak and chips arrived and we had to remind the server of our olives and bread starter that then was brought over. We had to send our plates back as the steaks weren't cooked to our spec and quite raw to be honest. The server then brought back the same plates with the same blood soaked chips, peas and onion rings. The beef was still not cooked to our spec. Then one server even asked us how our food was! And we had to be polite by quickly waving her off with a polite "OK". If they did as was expected by cooking the beef as requested and replacing the blood soaked chips, peas and onion rings with fresh ones, then that would've been making an effort. But as the chef couldn't be bothered with the basics, despite how cheap it was to just do a fresh batch, I'm not convinced the service or the food will ever improve hence we will never go back to this place. We also gave them our honest and polite feedback before we left so they could understand why we had left food on our plates. Something we just don't do as we absolutely love eating steaks.

I didn't expect any gourmet Christmas dinner but the reality was shockingly bad.The food was awful. The meat actually tasted off - couldn't even eat it.Cleaning standards could be improved too. The service was quite nice on this occasion even if not overly helpful.

We had our works Christmas party here and we weren’t disappointed. We ordered the gold festive buffet option. The area that had been set up for us was lovely and some unexpected free bottles of Prosecco were thrown in! The food was lovely and plenty of it!
