St Helena in Bedford

Always a pleasure to dine at this amazing restaurant. We have always dined in the main dinner area/conservatory but found ourselves, (maybe because it was a later time) seated in the bar area. Ambiance wasn't as nice. Can never fault the delicious food and staff though. We'll be back in July for our anniversary.

Honestly, the place is beautiful. The service was a bit hit and miss due to not having one person serving each particular table. There were nice touches like complementary courses and a drink at the end. But the biggest factor that would mean me not returning was that the food had hardly any flavour. Which for the price was really disappointing. My main had veg with chilli and garlic I couldn't taste either and the dessert looked amazing but the pretty little dots of coloured syrup literally tasted of nothing. Really disappointed with that. If i was being totally honest would have only given 3 stars but feeling generous...

I couldn’t fault this place. Excellent service, excellent food, stunning location. Franco and team were so hospitable and yet never over bearing. I will be back again…and again.

Absolutely fantastic. Superb atmosphere, staff, food and drink. I can't recall having a better dining experience.

The food menu is full of fresh ideas. Premium cuts, thought through layers of flavours and textures, posh Fish and Chips, simple things like nduja roast potatoes show how some things don't need to be reinvented just do the really well. Add to it huge selection of wines and the cosy atmosphere with colours and lights just right for the evening that's about you. Staff is always there when you need them and no more. It was pleasant to see multiple generations represented within serving staff and loads of diverse backgrounds.By far the most welcoming element of this place is the fact that the owners themselves are out there amongst service checking on their guests and showing interest in them and their desires. Raff and Franco live the life of true restaurateurs. The art of this profession has been transforming a lot over the last few decades and somehow it is Italians hospitality that keep it alive more than anyone. These two brothers in law stick to what this profession is about. Be a host and face the customer, create memories for them and they will come back for more.

You just cannot beat The St Helena for the quality of food and the ambiance, Raff and Frank go out of their way to make your evening special, the restaurant staff are superb. We are very lucky to have this quality restaurant in Bedford.

We had a family celebration at St Helena last night, it was a fabulous gourmet dinnner,Raff, Frank and the staff are super efficient and could not of made it a better evening for us allThe menu is exquisite, the scallops were cooked to perfection as was the lamb, the posh fish and chips would be another amazing choice !Super place , highly recommended

Stunning. I hesitate to review the St Helena as I would like to keep it to myself. All the staff are a credit to the establishment, the food is fantastic with the correct portion sizes so that the food may be enjoyed. You will not be disappointed, many thanks for a lovely 33rd Wedding Anniversary.

Just stumbled across this restaurant online and it's great reviews! We tried it tonight for our annivasary. We couldn't possibly recommend enough. Everything was perfect. Food was amazing. Service was great. The whole experience was wonderful. We're be back time and time again. Thank you! Xx
