Churchill's Fish & Chips in Braintree

Were rather hesitant after hearing it called ‘the best chip shop in Braintree’ as that creates high expectations. However, upon trying the chips last week, we very much agree! These are the best chip shop chips we’ve found. We’ve not tried any other food from there as we’re vegan with strict allergies so only losing a star for lack of other choices for us. But will def be back for chips!

I don't live in Braintree.. my mum treated us to fish and chips from John's of Braintree.. both the chips and fish cooked to order, fish was thick and white, with crispy batter.. chips were perfect... hope mum treats us again from here.

The food was really good,I think they could have added more salt to the chips 🍟 but overall it was a good experience 👌

I was the only customer in the shop when I visited, presumably because it was quite late. My order was freshly cooked & it was very nice indeed.

The Chipshop used to be Henleys but now has definitley established itself as Johns of Braintree. There were times standards were inconsistent.The chips are now always freshly cooked, soft and consistent like proper old school. We have cod that is always nicely battered and tasty.Staff are polite and friendly please keep up the good work.Mr Williams

Chicken was nasty, really nasty.Staff are polite but not very switched on and I've been in a few times just to be sure. Ordered a large battered sausage and small chips, got a small unbattered sausage large chips. When I mentioned this to the staff member they told me I hadn't ordered what I had but changed the order anyway without charge so pleased about that.
