Mick's Fish & Chips in Braintree

Surly staff and the sausage was inedible. Underdone and dripping with fat. Very poor. Would have been 1 star but the chips were actually rather good to be fair.

The fish and chips was 5* but the customer service was only 2* so combined I give it 4*I did what you’re doing now and googled “fish and chips in braintree”. Plenty to chose from but the amount of reviews as well as the rating here won me over.I walked in and ordered, I kept being looked at by the staff as I stood at the counter but nobody said “be with you in 2 or bare with me while I complete this order”.While I was waiting the staff gave two separate customers wrong items in their order which they were honest enough to bring to the employees attention. My order was small, just for 2 people but I had a long wait for my food to be ready. Maybe this is normal on a weekday evening???Once my order was given to me I couldn’t see one of the items I paid for. When I asked the female employee I got a blunt and sharp response, so much so it took me by surprise!The food itself I couldn’t fault at all.. portion sizes were good, it wasn’t greasy and it tasted fantastic!I hope the poor service was just a “one off” and not a regular thing. Will probably try another fish and chip shop in braintree next time.

In our opinion the BEST fish and chip shop in the area by far.The staff are always very welcoming and provide quick service even when the shop is busy.High quality fish along with all the other food items served.Parking can be difficult during very busy times but otherwise you can park right outside.

Usually find portions good here but the kids have come home with the smallest ever medium portion of chips. Struggled to distribute between 3 12 year olds, Looked more like one adult portion . Very disappointed!!

Whether you phone your order through, or call in to order straight from the counter. The food is first class. The chips are perfectly cooked and crispy outside and soft inside and the fish has always been cooked to perfection too. The staff are friendly and seem willing to make sure that you get your food, cooked fresh, as quickly as possible. Keep up the good work team.

Very poor quality food. Definitely wont go again. Pie was not cooked and actually cold in the middle. Anemic chips.

Best fish and chip by far. Food is always cooked spot on, piping hot and you can tell it is good quality and fresh. We love the burgers. Staff are incredible, always have a smile and super helpful. My ssister drives 7 miles away to order from here. Thank you .

Sat in the restaurant last night. Great food which was cooked fresh and was nice and hot. Lovely staff who were very attentive. Great value for money. Lovely and clean. Thankyou all the staff at Micks, we will be back 😄
