Riverside Fish Bar in Braintree

I can not fault the quality of the food that they offer. Good, friendly service as well. Update 19th March. No change. 23rd April. Still all good. As with all takeaways prices have increased but still excellent quality. 25/6/22 Still no change. Something to point out however, is that it is a rarity in that it is cash only.

This well known and loved chippy has been a mainstay of Braintree Town for years now and it's never really quite which tells a tale of it's own. People will vote with their feet and their feet (and mine) vote to walk here! Prices are quite reasonable and the fish etc is cooked fresh. There's usually a good deal on during the day and early evening.

Great fish and chips but losses a star as they only take cash.

Fabulous take away from here as always, only downside is only takes cash, if they took card too would deffo rate 5 stars

Chips were okay,Sausage had funny taste,Curry sauce was weird, thin and microwaved :/

Ordered from here yesterday and the stake and kidney pie was like a lump of concrete so hard that my son couldnt evan eat it.Can definitely tell they do not cook there food fresh everyday.

Was pleasantly surprised by the food,could fault the fish was lovely and fresh with nice batter and chips were good, curry sauce could of been a bit thicker but was still tasty

Food was hot on delivery, asked for a medium cod and was ample. Large chips did two of us and a few for the dog 🐕. Never had the food delivered before but so pleased, arrived on time and driver polite and was surprised she got a tip. Will be ordering again.

Ordered from here today, thought we'd give it a go based on current reviews (obviously previous reviews work!)Cod was absolutely excellent and large was more than enough for one, batter was lovely and crispy. The chips were nice, not too soggy, portion size was enough to feed a family on a medium portion so value for money is definitely a factor here!My partner ordered a chicken burger and a portion of wings, both looked good and her verdict was exactly that.Great food, reasonable prices, definitely will order again.Very much recommended.

My wife wasn't a fan of fish and chips in general. That was until we tried Smith and jones.The quality and flavour is excellent. The attention of the staff is great. Highly recommended. Prepare yourself to queue on Friday's.
