We are regular visitors to The Railway Tavern & the food never disappoints, in fact it’s improved with great menu choices & specials.I took my friend for lunch recently - lunch club menu. My friend has never been here before & was very impressed with the sandwich choices. She thoroughly enjoyed her lunch & keeps saying it was the best sandwich she’d had!Staff are always friendly & accommodating.

It was a lovely hot day when myself, my friend, and her daughter decided to pop over for lunch. It was very busy, but we expected it to be with a day like that, so a little wait for an outside table by the river was a must!! Everywhere was clean and tidy and the staff were very busy but also very helpful and let us know when a table was free. Our meals were delicious. Couldn't fault any of our meals at all. Was a shame we had to leave so soon!! Totally 5* and we will definitely be back again soon!!

Excellent food and ambience was quite relaxed. Good service. Would definitely recommend. The outside seating in summer would be much more pleasant and inviting though.

Thank you The Tavern for our lovely meals, enjoyed by 4 of us. Ate it all & was stuffed to the brim but still squeezed in delicious desserts. The girls that waited on us were lovely, smiley & polite. Will deffinately be coming back & recommend to all.

Visited this place with a friend for dinner.Had a lovely meal. Was really enjoyable in a lovely location.Great food, nice pub.The visit was somewhat ruined by quite possibly the loudest group of young 'ladys' I have ever seen/heard.Volume of such levels I would not believe possible unless it was witnessed. Unbelievable!

Lovely pub! Highly recommend Sunday roast - great selection of traditional Sunday lunch dishes. I had a nut roast which was super tasty. One thing to bear in mind - their Yorkshire puddings are massive (in a good way)

Took a visit to this place last night for dinner. We were looking for somewhere with veggie options as there aren’t many pubs that have much more than a vegetarian soup on the menu- they had plenty to choose from especially compared to other pubs nearby so we made the trip. 100% stood up to what we expected and more, service was speedy and all the staff were absolutely lovely. I’m surprised it wasn’t more busy, this truly is a lovely pub with a great atmosphere and good, honest food. We didn’t get a chance to sit outside but it looks like the perfect place for a summer pint, parking is decent, and it’s clearly cleaned regularly and is well decorated. 100% would come again, thank you Railway Tavern!

This is one of my walkable locals. It does a lot right. It does some stuff wrong. I will try to explain. What it does right:-It's a pub on a river which is always a winner.-The river has wildflife (see pics)-They serve Aspall cider (which is my favourite)-They serve food - and the food is good. I would say this year that the food has gone up in quality.-Currently (at last time of visit a couple of weeks ago), they were doing table service but you could also go into the bar to get drinks.-You can host an event here - regularly see weddings / funeral receptions here.-Prices are standard pub prices-Food is standard food prices for a pub in the area - but good value.-It has a great number of places to sit outside - and when the suns out it gets busy with a decent atmosphere. What it does not so well:-It has the opportunity, with the space they have, to make more use of the kids area - this would get them more business with families being able to stay longer before kids become a nightmare. They don't do that ( I suspect for their own reasons) but this can affect length of time you can stay here.-The tables are a bit wonky and worn. The numbers on the table aren't particularly visible.-The inside isn't all that great - could do with a bit of an update.-The car park is a stupid shape and difficult to use when busy. Not the pub's fault obviously but I would be careful parking a nice car in there when busy.Overall, I would recommend - especially on a nice hot day.-

Came today, with friends for a very nice Sunday lunch. A table next to the river and a hot day, couldn't ask for more. Plenty of choice, hot food, good sized portions. Covid precautions taken. All the staff were very friendly and polite. Plenty of car parking. Recommended

Lovely pub and good food & drink by a river. Staff friendly. Large pub garden. Small car park. If you want a table outside recommend you book
