The Rare Cow Steak House and Bar in Braintree

Well presented and prepared food from a well sourced, local produce menu. Good wine selection and some very nice locally crafted gins and beers.Service was very good. Overall, good value for money in a pleasant surrounding. Still the best eats in Braintree by some way. Only gripe (nothing the owners could really do) was a table of extremely loud, very drunk and foul mouthed people. At times, a bouncer does come in handy. The waiter serving them had the patience of a Saint way beyond the point at which I would have delivered a slapping.Top marks.

Met here with a friend and we had a fabulous experience. Friendly wait staff, beautiful food (big portion size too) and great atmosphere! Will definitely be back ... thank you

Lovely restaurant!My boyfriend and I decided to stop for lunch after we saw so many good reviews and we haven't been disappointed!The atmosphere is cozy and elegant at the same time, I loved the way they furnished the venue.The food was great, we had the fried calamari and the mussels and … wow, everything was great!We had the steak and flatbread as mains and were delicious.A big thanks to our waiters Harry and Milly, who made our experience absolutely perfect!Highly recommended!

We had our Valentines meal here. The food is just amazing. Never will I understand how someone can make kale taste so incredible. And their steaks are unbeatable. Every time gets better and better.

Just got back from a excellent evening meal had the Queen scallops charred cauliflower and parsnip puree mains chateaubriand for two triple cooked chips salad mushrooms and tomatoes absolutely gorgeous and for dessert salted caramel chocolate tart and Chantilly cream all absolutely delicious staff were very polite and couldn't do enough for you can highly recommend and and wouldn't hesitate to go back

We went for a bottomless Prosecco lunch yesterday. The staff were attentive and really helpful. The food and service could not be better. It was so good to come back! Thank you for the loveliest afternoon.

What a pleasant restaurant!.. We had a 3 course Saturday lunch... Great food (delicious burger) Excellent & friendly staff.. Very reasonably priced for a fine dining restaurant.. Will definitely be visiting again!

Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant.We started our meal with two large glasses of wine, followed by the roast beef Sunday roast with a side dish of cauliflower cheese. We then had a dessert each followed by two coffee's to finish our meal.The staff were all attentive and polite and we never felt rushed.The cleanliness of the whole restaurant was very impressive too.We were lucky to park directly outside although our visit was on a Sunday.The nearest parking weekdays is opposite in the Tesco car park.We were happy the pay £77 for two due to the high quality of all the food we were presented with. Very good value for the money.Excellent all round dinning experience.We will certainly be returning.

First time dining at Chophouse and our table all loved the food. The steak was one of the best I've eaten out. A local restaurant with a great atmosphere and great service. Most restaurants these days add on a service charge and surprisingly they didnt. We wpuld always tip regardless but it is always good to have the option! I'd like to thank the manager Louise who resolved a small issue that occurred after I left the restaurant. She was very professional. I look forward to returning again soon!
