The White Hart Hotel Restaurant in Braintree

I loved the charm and quirkiness. The staff could not have been nicer and so helpful. I took my elderly parents and unfortunately no lift. They found it difficult but our luggage was carried up for us. Would stay again myself but wouldn't take mum and dad.

Excellent night at the weekly Monday night quiz with Lee and Chris. Stevie and her team were very friendly and provided table service to the teams. Special mention to Carina, great food and well presented and came to say Hello 😊

Staff where nice. Rooms are quite big but it's dated and the attention to detail was not great. Paint on the lamp where they haven't been careful, stains on the carpet etc but it's cheap and is in a great location.

I came to your restaurant yesterday with my husband and sister, there seemed to be a very short supply of alcohol as a few choices we made were not available…..Then we was served with our startersMy sister ordered prawns with avacado…She was just presented with a dish of prawnsMy husband ordered the soup and was giving a small piece of white bread ….Our roast dinner took about half an hour to be served, the gravy was so thick and salty it totally ruined the taste of the food….We then waited about twenty minutes for the dessert menu and we had to prompt the waiter who replied “ sorry I forgot!I ordered a vegan dish as I have a dairy allergyMy sister was given my desert as there was a mix up, the waiter then tried to give me a non vegan dessert and I was told to take my sisters and just do a swap!!!!! By this time she had eaten some and I said no I would like a new one brought out…The waiter then returned and told me I had to pay twice now!!!! By this time we was all very p of!!After a little disagreement my dessert was taken of the bill ….Then I realised I had been given the same dessert back that my sister had started and just an extra portion of vegan ice cream was added….After telling the waiter of yet another errorI was offered a free coffee …..I then replied I was supposed to get a cup of tea with my mini dessert what was also forgotten about …..It was a complete shambles…..And the restaurant wasn’t even busyVery disappointing, will not be returning

Had my fathers wake at the pub in May 2021. I can’t thank the staff enough for all their help and assistance during what was a stressful time. Tom and Scott were especially helpful and supportive and the whole experience was smooth and painless. Well done.

A quick visit to Braintree and we wanted a quick tasty meal to send us back to Wales with and they delivered exactly that thank you to Cameron!! A generous and tasty portion, value for money and very quick! Fabulous!!

We went last weekend, none of the meals ordered were complete: the mussels had no green beans, the burgers had no BBQ sauce or slaw, the Christmas dinners were cold (apart from the potatoes which were molten) and dry with very little gravy, no stuffing and no cranberry, veggie option had no gravy at all! The only condiments on the table were the usual ketchup and mayo, nothing seasonal, no apple or cranberry sauces, no gravy boats - and it was all an hour late! Terrible!

I have no idea what the food was like because we never got it. We booked a table on Sunday for 1 o'clock. On arrival we were told the food would be delayed. After a later assurance that this would not be the case we ordered. At 2 o'clock we asked what was happening. We were told they had a large party in the other room and we would get our order eventually- not the most professional reply. Then five minutes later we were told by some other, admittedly very apologetic, members of staff that it would be at least another half an hour before we got our food. We left. I understand a large party takes priority but in that case why take the booking.

What a charming hotel, pub and team: we were expecting a classic pub hotel chain run within the confinement of a franchise but we were surprised by the warmth, care and dedication of every single team member at the white hart. From the booking process, to check in on arrival via breakfast and check out it was an absolute winner thank you to a warm service and great attentive staff. We stopped over for a wedding and took base in the old part of the pub with its period rooms and furniture: given it was not a 5 star interiors each and every interaction with the team made us feel like we were valued and taken care of.Great value for money and a winner all around!
