Travellers Rest in Braintree

We went up for a meal yesterday my wife Jan and I, had a great meal great pub great staff.If you want good food and good staff this is the pub to visit, you can’t go wrong.Thanks Fee for a great meal as always.Chris and Jan Perkins.

First visit and it was really good. Looks great inside and out. The food was amazing and I couldn't fault any of the three courses we had (think I ate too much really but it was so good).Staff were really friendly and helpful,they checked on us many times throughout the evening. Fiona(the gaffa as my husband called her) being one of them maybe more gravy on the steak pie would have been good but if you don't ask you don't get.Amazing,

What an absolutely wonderful place, the staff are incredibly friendly and helpful, the food was amazing and they treat dogs as customers. This pub is a definite place to go and enjoy a fantastic meal and take your fur babies with you. 👍👏❤

Five adults ate here. Fantastic food big portions freshly cooked. 2 vegan meals they had options on the menu for vegans . Very friendly staff. We were made to feel special. Will be back here again soon.

Brilliant service and lots of gluten free options, would highly recommend a visit!We stopped off for a very late lunch/early dinner after a long hike on our way home and were made to feel very welcome. Their burgers are handmade and well garnished with both chips and salad. We had a mix up with who wanted Stilton and who didn't but they fixed it immediately so overall a very good experience. Thank you we will be back again next time we're in the area!

This was a pleasant surprise, it was a bit out the way so we've never been before. We went for a birthday party. Service was excellent, very attentive, food was clearly home made and tasted really good the portion sizes were also massive. There was also a large carpark. We'd definitely go again.

We went for a spur of the moment evening out.Heard that the Travellers had changed. We were not disappointed.Sirloin cooked perfectly with chips and a great mushroom. Bean burger - home made.Scallops for starters with Chorizo. Home made salmon & haddock fishcake with salad (homemade dressing) mains and what more can I say. . a restaurant that not only actually makes chocolate fondants in-house but serves them perfectly. Ooooozing - perfect. Thank you to all at the Travellers. Great food and service. We'll be back. 👍

Absolutely the best meal we have had in ages. Lovely staff, very attentive.. Service was impeccable. Happy new year to you all. X

Simply superb. We chose this pub restaurant due to curb appel. It's a beautiful old cottage with plenty of the original beams and atmosphere. I found the staff to be very friendly. I ordered an Otter Ale, I sipped it, looked at it. As I put it back on my table the landlady placed another one in front of me and removed mine. "It looked a little cloudy",she said. "I want to ensure you enjoy your ale". Very impressed as I have always had to go to the bar and point it out. It was a refreshing change.We placed our order for or meal, and as always, you hope it will be OK. Our meals promptly arrived and got placed in front of us. The four of us all had different meals and could not belive how much we had. I had Pizza and chips. It was totally home made, with local produce. I have to say that this was simply the best I have ever had outside Italy. My friends wife had the pork. Being that he was formally a chef tried it. He claimed that it was award winning. The slight issue was that the plate had so much.Be warned, the food presented to you is plentiful.I can't recall any pub restaurant that provides both customer care and amazing food.The next time I'm in the area, I will truly call in .Thank you all at the Travellers Rest.

This is going to be our regular Sunday lunch venue again!! Such a delicious meal!! Our Plates were empty!! Yummy cauliflower cheese & mashed swede 2 of my favourites!! Fiona & Russel the new management have transformed the garden its so tranquil & very safe for children & dogs as 2 gated..Lovely waitresses very attentive,defo 5* all round 👌
