Was staying nearby and had a recommendation to visit the pub. Had a really nice meal, our dog was welcomed and made the most of the local ciders available which were so good, I took away a couple of 4 pint bags for home! Would highly recommend.

We visited Darby’s on a busy Sunday afternoon with a party of 20. All I can say is the food was great, in terms of quality and value for money, and the service was even better. A special mention to Victoria and Shona who were attentive and very personable throughout. Thank you Darby’s, we will be back soon!

Went here for a meal in the evening, it was wonderful. The fish was so perfectly cooked it fell apart and didn't want to stay on the fork. The atmosphere was lovely and the building gave all of us a great talking point of the architecture and memories of our childhoods. We do plan to come back with our partners as now they want to try the food here. The staff couldn't have been nicer or more polite and let us know about weekday meals and everything so we can plan it out with others more so thanks to that. If anyone is looking at this for a nice meal out, try them you won't regret it.

Lovely menu. We visited on a Wednesday which is Steak special night. The steaks were unbelievable & great value. Staff were great, helpful & polite. Dropped 1 star only because we ate in the bar area so it felt like a pub as opposed to a restaurant ( I suppose the clue was in the name...Freehouse & Restaurant!)

Really disappointed.. Visited for the first time in a few years and the quality and value has disappeared.. portions are poor, waiting times were ridiculous and then when the pizza arrived it wasn't what was ordered (Gatherer was ordered)... Won't be going back again

Booked a table for 10, at least 4 people had finished their main course before the 10th person received theirs. The food is very nice but the portions are small for what you pay. I would go back for a drink as the surroundings are very nice, but will not pay the prices for the food, you definitely do not get good value for your money

Below average food no value for money. All I got was 3 tastles wings and 3 small ribs like leather and harldy any meat on them. Wife chicken just had a smidge of marmalade on the skin no flavour and 16 new potatoes!!! Went elsewhere for pudding. Good for a drink, Staff friendly nice pub.

Went for Sunday lunch. Booked a table! Table was not set up no knives and forks no salt/pepper no sauces offered.Wine ordered but no glasses!Food was mediocre.Meat was over cooked, vegetables where frozen broccoli and cauliflower Yorkshire puds where good.Overall service was nonexistent and the welcome was not the warmest. Will not be returning!

We only stopped for drinks, but staff and pub are lovely. There is a great play area for the kids, the youngest really enjoyed. The food looked great. We're already talking about when we can come back for a meal.
