One meal good. Requested two roast beef dinners, one of which appeared to be a grilled steak and was uneatable. Such a shame as we had so looked forward to returning to the George following its reopening. The manager, did nothing and if it wasn’t for the charm and tact of waitress we would not be thinking of possibly returning at a future date.

Good to see it open again i hope the red wine improves

I am not reviewing for a stay as the hotel isn’t taking bookings at the moment . But i do want to express my appreciation to Stuart for use of a room for a family wake . It was very atmospheric with all the candles and the open fire. Such a sad occasion but just the right space for people to relax in with each other. Stuart communicated with our caterer and was really helpful and kind throughout .

This is the third time we have stayed and each time we have been made to feel very welcome. The rooms are very clean and functional which along with the very friendly staff, makes for a pleasant and relaxing atmosphere. Dining is to be recommended. We normally have breakfasts which are very good indeed, and this time we had an evening meal. I had the fish pie which was delicious and my wife had the steak which she was very impressed with. Simply a place we love staying at.

I enjoyed my stay at this hotel. The staff was friendly and hospitable. The room was large and my bathroom was massive. (Room 6). Breakfast was excellent and included in the price of the room. Price for the room was an excellent value for what you received. Awesome wall paper. With that said, I found the bed too hard and uncomfortable. The linens could have been better. I also had significant amount of noise that I could hear from the pub until about 11:15pm. If you want to sleep earlier and not have noise, I'd suggest saying in rooms 1-4 (but it may be slightly nosier in the morning as breakfast is beneath you). If you are a night owl, I'd suggest rooms 5-8 which will be quieter in the morning.

Four of us stayed for one night, together with a small dog. We were in an annexe to the hotel, which at first we thought might be inferior. It certainly was not. There were two rooms, both were beautifully clean, very well furnished and very quiet. Comfortable beds and an excellent breakfast the next morning. Very friendly welcoming staff. A good choice of beers and wines in the bar - we sat in the small conservatory with our drinks, very pleasant on a late February afternoon. We didn't eat in the restaurant in the evening because we had already arranged to eat elsewhere. We would definitely stay again when next in the area.

Quite a pleasant place. We sat in the big conservatory. Dinning room not open mid week lunch times. Service excellent. Food very nice. We ate fried fish in beer batter and they were quite happy to swap chips for new pots Fish beautifully cooked. It was very quiet but as we were 3 elderly people we didn't mind that. Some things there a bit to chef for us Roast lamb cooked very rare and fresh vegetables not just ale dente. Just under cooked. Still would recommend for a nice meal out..
