I am so pleased to see a good chippy open here. I used to live near Stafford Street chip shop in the good years. I had many an amazing fish supper from there, I am pleased to say St. John's is as good if not better. The smell tells it all, walk past St. John's and you'll be hypnotised by chippy goodness, walk past some less reputable establishments nearby and you will turn your nose up!The portions here are brilliant and great value for money, all cooked fresh and to order. Forget McDonalds down the road, eat here! delicious

Great to see this chippy open again - stopped by for the first time on Saturday night for haddock and chips. Happy to report it was really good - the fish was super fresh, the batter was crispy and there was a generous portion of very nice chips

Just had two middle cod and chips from at Johns fish and chip shop.the shop has recently changed hands and I can say that they were delicious and well packed in insulated containers.the batter was cooked to perfection and delicious.Shop had been closed for over a year but I hope the nearby regulars now return, you won't be disappointed.Try it and support local business.Pete

Friendly service but unfortunately chips tasted like oven chips, very dry seemed like they had been reheated.

Great fish and chips. Love the home made curry sauce. Highly recommended.

The fish was lovely, cooked while we waited. Unfortunately, the chips tasted as if they had been sitting around for a while! But this is the first time we have had this happen and would still use them again!

Decent chippy with friendly staff. They don't fry rock eel, which is a favourite of mine. Telephone orders can be placed, and if not then the wait isn't too long. Do a handy loyalty card, which you get stamped each time you spend over £10. Collect 10 and get £5 off. Nice😀. Worth a try if in the area
