Delicious Afternoon Tea, I had booked a table of 14 for a hen party afternoon tea on Saturday and it was perfect. The food was lovely with sandwiches, warm scones and lots of cake, we couldn't eat it all but was boxed up for us to take away. We couldn't ask for better service with Peter bringing us whatever we needed. Will definitely be back for dinner and more afternoon tea ❤

Avoid at all cost if you value your health ; this place is infested with rodents and bed bugs . It’s a joke of a 3 star hotel .

Amazing place! Surprised my fiancée for our 18th anniversary and I’d asked for decorations and gaz and the team were happy to help abs made the occasion feel so special. Gaz and his wife greeted us and made us feel very welcome. Staff were lovely , the afternoon tea was delicious! Will definitely be returning. Thank you all so much :) Jade&David

This historical building has been beautifully refurbished by the owners Gez and Rosey. Our room was lovely and we enjoyed and delicious evening meal in the onsite restaurant.

My family and I came here for the first time on Saturday, and we all had a lovely time. The food was delicious, the place is so beautiful and cosy, and the owners are lovely and friendly. Would definitely recommend it, and I look forward to going again 😊.

Wonderful restaurant - turned up on a Saturday night with no booking but was happy to wait 20 mins for a table as the food was lovely (steak cooked to perfection) and staff very friendly. Really liked the footage shown on screens so that you can see what different dishes on the menu looked like and even how they are prepared. Nice touch. Cocktails on next doors table looked lovely too. Will be returning (booking next time!) 😁

The owners were nothing but hospitable, and were super helpful and offered to carry bags etc to the room. The hotel is historic and hosts a number of information boards on its namesake, Thomas Paine. I personally like the bar and table areas but if I was being critical, the rooms could do with some updates including double glazing or noise protection from the road and subsequent pubs in the area, but there are currently ongoing renovation and the owner is already working on aspects of this. Very nice people and next time will try the food too, the beer is always good!

My Nan and I recently visited the Thomas Paine Hotel for afternoon tea and have already booked to go back with more family members! Gez warmly greeted and welcomed us as we arrived and checked on us throughout our visit. The waitresses were friendly, polite and attentive, making sure we had plenty of tea - and even boxed up a cake we couldn't finish for us to take home. We felt the staff made the visit personable and relaxing and happily catered to our dietary requirements. We've already booked for another afternoon tea in a few months, as well as a roast dinner for next week (after seeing someone else's plate!). Looking forward to our return!

I used to stay at this hotel regularly and always looked forward to my monthly stays there. it's pandemic related decline was sad to see.The hotel is unmanned during the week however staff will flexibly arrange a time to check you in.You need to order a breakfast box if you need breakfast. As there is no evening meal provided resturants are within close walking proximity or you can order your evening meal from a resturant for delivery with no difficulty. The bedroom was lovely and clean but the hotel has lost some of its charm and character and this is exacerbated as there are no staff to interact with. I imagine this isn't the case on the weekend but know this is done in an effort to remain financially viable in these testing times.

Easy to get to, great location, on site parking, funny, friendly and welcoming staff, awesome cocktails, very spacious rooms, comfy bed, clean bathroom. Didn't get to eat but the food but that looked amazing too. The owner was also incredibly welcoming, and sat and had a drink and a chat with me and my partner on our first night.Absolutely plan on returning soon.
