We had a great lunch here, with delicious, homemade pies, fresh vegetables and a wide variety of tempting desserts. Welcoming, friendly atmosphere. How the chef manages to take multiple varied orders, cook and deliver them with efficiency and a friendly manner beats me...but she does it brilliantly! We'll be back!

Lovely traditional English pub with good portion of quality home cooked food and value for money. It is a local pub , a bit 'lost in time' with plenty of locals on first name basis with the pub staff but we were made to feel welcome. Friendly staff and landlady. After this experience , sometimes I wonder why we go to posh gastropub. I wish there are more pubs like this....will certainly return when we are around the area. Highly recommended.

This traditional English pub set in a rural locale is an absolute treat. There are no franchise influences here. Just a good quality and quantity of home cooked fayre with hot fresh veg and typical pub chips(croquettes and boiled pots also available). This is a local pub for some but we were made to feel welcome. The bar is well stocked and a garden for summer days and large stove for winter complete the picture. Highly recommended.

A grear representation of what you would expect a rural pub to be 40years ago - completely untouched by the gastro era. Real charm and well supported locally. Cash only. Havent tried the food but specials board looked reliable.

Lovely quiet rural pub. We saw hares grey partridge and two barn owls in the fields nearby. The pub was old and like a proper pub used to be like many years ago. It was a free house and seved a limited but sustantial plate of food which was very good value. Try the churchwardens pie. I had a decent steak for just over ten pounds. The landlady was pleasant and shared her love of the pub and area with us. We will be back soon.

Lovely pub. No WiFi to encourage eating, drinking, and chatting. COVID safe practices. Great food and beer.

Good value homemade food. Renound for the Pies. The pub dog is friendly, but beware of the landlady, she might bite.

Friendly pub with great old fashioned home cooked foodThis is a regular haunt for my Wife and I.Great friendly atmosphere, a welcoming landlady who doesn't suffer fools gladly.Good choice of Beers, Lagers and Cider, as well as all the usual soft drinks etc.The food is mostly home cooked.All the specials are home made pies, they are all good, my favourite is Chicken and Leek, but you cannot go wrong with any of the others, Steak and Mushroon, and 20 Church Wardens Pie. All are served with a choice of Chips, Potato croquets, or Jacket Spud.The range of pies rarely varies, which may sound like a negative, but as the saying goes, if it ain't broke don't fix it, and as people keep coming back, it clearly isn't broken.Plenty of the usual pub food options too, Steaks, Scampi and Chips etc.At busy times you may have a wait, however this will be made clear. Remember this is a small village pub, not one of those faceless franchises.If visiting in a large group, it would make sense to book a table.The pub is dog friendly too, the "in house" hound is Daisy a very small and very friendly Yorkshire Terrier.Most of the mobile phone networks do not get a signal here, and there is no WiFi, so you will just have to talk to people.NB the pub does NOT take Credit or Debit cards, it's cash or Cheque.Mr Michelin probably wouldn't give it 5 Stars, but that is his loss.

A country pub serving good home cooked food. Well worth a visit. I know we will again .
