Brentwood Toby Carvery - Artichoke in Brentwood

Food was plentiful and hot. Missed the onions in gravy as didn't go last month so fingers crossed for next month. Annie served us on the day and was fantastic as always, but I must also mention Hazel and Karen as they have all served me in the past and they are all top class waitresses and I do not want to leave anyone out!

During a meal recently at the Artichoke in Brentwood, we attempted, pretty unsuccessfully, to give my young granddaughter some medicine. We tried various bribes and coaxing, but we were running out of ideas. I have to say how fantastic the staff were. Sympathetic and understanding even offering help and advice. They let her look round the kitchen and gave her some sweets. Honestly they were so lovely. My mum, my daughter and myself were grateful to them for easing the situation. Thank you ladies.

The meat was cooked well, but they only put two tiny pieces on your place, which I don’t consider a normal portion size. They can definitely put more effort with the veggies as they are always tasteless and soggy and cooked extremely unwell!

Met friends for lunch. We had the carvery meal which was nice but I would have liked it served on a "hot" plate not a lukewarm one. Staff were very nice and helpful.

Can't understand why you've sent a message to me saying sorry we couldn't join you on 2nd February. We were there at 1.30 and had our lovely roast and a few drinks. So don't understand your message stating we never arrived?

Booked a table at last minute. No problem with that. Arrived 15 minutes early and was taken to our table straight away. Excellent service and meal was lovely. Highly recommended.

Went for Carvery on Tuesday 15th feb , we were really disappointed after the second bite into dinner , my daughter was horrified to find black curly hairs in her carrots!!! We then noticed a fully bearded chief dishing up food with no cover over his beard! He did have a hat on his head!!! It really turned us all for dinner !

Tried and tested and does exactly what it says on the tin. It is just a great place that serves a very nice carvery. I can't complain. When I visit there the food is always really nice, the portions are as big as you want them to be and the price is reasonable. I would recommend

Went for meal on Sunday, booked 2 weeks in advance for 6 people. Booked for 5.10pm. Seated at 5.05pm had mains carvery. As we finished our meal we were given the bill and asked to leave as they had people waiting for the table. No chance for desserts, coffee or a drink. Left restaurant at 5.55pm as you only get 1 hour to eat!!! Very very poor. Food is lovely if your allowed to finish it. Doesn't even warrant 1 star!If you do go my advance would be to eat quick with no talking!!

Fresh and delicious food, very friendly staff. Car park is free and there is lot of space. Covid 19 rules compliant
