Lovely fish really fresh and chip great too

Love the Jack Daniels ribs in here and have been coming here for years. Now I live away from Essex I always try to come here when visiting family. Only downfall being it’s opening hours. Shuts very early and means we have to go elsewhere which is never as good.

Nice and friendly service by one of the guys. The younger guy I first got served by was a bit moody.First time I've been there and they recommended the ribs. The sauce was delicious and very generous. The rib meat was tasty and moist. Only thing I would say is if they allowed it to tenderise further it would have been perfect. A little bit chewy, but I'm very fussy.Chips were decent and I would definitely go back.

Never had a bad meal from Chris' and tonight was worth a mention. I had the cod bites and they were perfect. I do not understand the negative reviews on here unless they are from owners of other local chippies. All the reviews on the local FB pages have been positive. The only negatives have been when Deliveroo have been used. When I used Deliveroo at Chris' they did not even collect my order and when I called the staff said it was still on the counter. Not Chris' fault but I will always use Chris' own delivery service now (and it is cheaper) :)

by far the best ribs you can get anywhere. Only problem is everyone else knows it so always a queue but well worth the wait!

Had the worst fish from this place yesterday.Ordered 2 large 8 oz cod which was undercooked and way too thin, think I was given small 5 oz.The batter was also undercooked and had none on the bottom of fish.Was dripping in fat and the worst cod I have had in quite a while.Chris sort your quality issues out as you were 1 of the bestHad to request a refund from Deliveroo and throw in the bin.On a positive chips were niceUPDATED REVIEW::Seems you don’t like any negative honest reviews.Picture says it all to be honest as does your follow up feedback.Your quality has gone downhill over the last 6 months.I am a local resident and I’m not the only person who has noticed your lack of quality or passion.A few others I know have also complained and 1 of those people actually called you and brought food back to your shop for a refund.You tried making excuses then and only after an argument did you refund.Probably good I didn’t come into your shop as there could have been a problem that wouldn’t have ended well.Instead of making excuses maybe try and improve your standards to pre lockdown as you were 1 of the best.Not anymore.Truth hurts and not trying to hurt your business.You are doing that all by yourself

Ordered on deliveroo and must say it was one of the best fish and chips we ever had. Main thing fish and chips were cooked in a fresh oil. Will definitely order again. Well done Chris' fish and chips!!!

We don't come from brentwood but had to pop over and decided on the way to google fish & chips.After reading the reviews, we were only interested in the quality of the food and not disputes between 3rd parties/deliveryOrdered at the resturant door, super fast, pleasant service BUT the food was exceptional. Cod was moist, batter was perfect; crispy NOT soggy! Sausage in batter was really nice and chips were just right. Will happily drive the 24 minutes out of our way again just to sit in our car and eat their food again.Thank you
