A friendly pub and can’t complain about service but was disappointed when I ordered middle skate served with new potatoes as the potatoes were, I would say leftovers from the day before and fried in slices, the fish wasn’t cooked through, which was a shame as it was a lovely thick piece of skate and the whole thing was served with carrots, peas and salad which was unnecessary as just peas would have been ok. Unfortunately the dish had to be returned as the centre of the fish was raw. They were very apologetic and replaced it with a freshly cooked cod & chips which was excellent .

First time we visited it was lovely. Great homemade food, beautiful location, service speed and attention was the only thing letting it down for our 12 top. This time however.... Awful. We were there for 3 and a half hours yet only about 20 minutes of that was eating the rest was waiting time.It took them forever to serve us. We never got asked if we wanted condiments with our food, never got asked if we wanted a new drink. We waiting 50minutes for our mains to be taken away and we were never seen to again. Other tables (facing the bar) had constant attention from the staff so be wary of your seating/table position but not us or the table behind - after 25 minutes of being seating had yet to be asked for a drink order. If I hadn't been so honest I could have walked out without paying. We had to go to the bar to pay and they didn't even recognise that we had been sat at the table for over three hours! Insulted. Then to add insult to injury three out of the four people have been ill since eating there. We will not be returning.

Had lunch in the pub today for my dad's birthday. We were sat right in front of the bar, worst place possible, it was like having someone sitting on your shoulder while eating. Locals at the bar were so loud it made it impossible to hear anyone speak, it was also freezing, so much so that we sat with our coats on while eating our dinner. Shame as the food was nice but won't be going back for any special occasion again. Will find somewhere quieter.

Great pub set in a beautiful village, food very reasonably priced and delicious. Super friendly staff. The seating, tables and decor show are classic and have been well used. The place is surprisingly huge inside (a bit like a tardis!). Definitely a place to go back to as a stop on a long walk!

Lovely country pub. Food was lovely! Customer service was good. Very popular, especially on a Sunday. Would recommend booking if going for Sunday lunch.

After ringing ahead for my mother to ensure this was a wheelchair friendly pub I was told yes there was disabled parking and she would be able to use a different entrance. This unfortunately was not the case. Resulting in patrons and staff members needing to lift her and her wheelchair over thresholds. This is very embarrassing for a new wheel chair user due to an accident and even worse when we plan journeys ahead for this reasonPlease be more up front with your guests to avoid a repeat of this in the future.

Very nice place for a spot of Sunday Lunch, best to book

·

Nice pub with parking and plenty of outdoor seating, some of which is undercover. Though got a feeling they're not massively keen on non-locals. Roast was decent apart from the meat being overcooked

·

Pleasant country pub, exactly what we needed at the time. Friendly staff, tasty food, ample parking. Located on a doorstep of Nature Reserve.

The place is great! An independent pub that offers really excellent food and plenty of space to sit outside where you can enjoy very nice views.
